The best preamps under $500 are for sure my Neumann clones! IF you already HAVE a GDIY511 Rack. Now, if you can wait until USD500 is below EUR400 again ...    |

Where's the facepalm button? If we have threads like this, were certainly gonna need one lol! No kidding! But for $620 you can get an SCA J99 in a oneshot chassis, pre-built and ready to go. Hard to find a better all-around pre than that. |

I put this together yesterday.
It sounds really great it's wayyyyyyyy under 500
