I have a thing for fretless, especially Pedulla's! Jeff Schmidt has them make his basses with an upside down nut. He won the 2005 Bass Extremes International Bass Solo Competition judged by Victor Wooten and Will Lee.

They're supposed to be available toward the end of this year. In Harmon speak that means 2 years! That's what they said on the 6 o'clock Boston news. They actually covered this.

Geezer Butler, Steve Harris, Stu Hamm, Stanley Clarke, John Myung, Geddy Lee. This is a great list! I would add Chris Squire (RIP), Billy Sheehan and don't flame me but also Gene Simmons. Simmons was very good at singing against the grain of his playing.

Geezer Butler, Steve Harris, Stu Hamm, Stanley Clarke, John Myung, Geddy Lee. It's impossible to mention one favorite. But if I were to say who I think is the best, I'd say Stanley Clarke.

Bowie's producer Tony Visconti said "He always did what he wanted to do. And he wanted to do it his way and he wanted to do it the best way. His death was no different from his life—a work of Art. He made Blackstar for us, his parting gift. I knew for a year this was the way it would be. I wasn't, however, prepared for it. He was an extraordinary man, full of love and life. He will always be with us. For now, it is appropriate to cry"

I did listen to the new Album today, fantastic as always, but its totaly coloured to face the death. He knew it was coming while he was writing it. It's a dark world we're living in so one doesn't have to dig deep for inspiration.

Thanks mobeach. From what I've read about foam, which I assume is what you're using there without bass trapping in the corner, there's a problem with 600 Hz and below being too predominant in the vocal. Is that you're experience? Or, are you satisfied? I'm looking at this kind of solution for vocals as well. It's from a Dr. Luke interview where he said he uses it for his vocal booth. Inexpensive and portable. Like I said, I have tons of bass trapping in my room. What I need is quiet. I use a music stand in front of me with a reflector (piece of plexi-glass) different angle depending on what Mic I'm using.

I think you need to post something of yours that ISN'T as quiet as you would like it to me. I wasn't aware that in a DAW age this was an issue. Since you can in minutes edit the whole 30+ tracks to remove "dead air" noise. Manual, deliberate and flexible gating if you will. You mean the actual acoustic guitar track is so noisy you "hear noise" when it's alone? If so, where does that noise come from....you mention "without multiroom studios"--for all intents and purposes mine is single room--I keep thinking I'm going to pad up the second room and make it an iso booth, but I've not actually found much need. But, note that I'm OCD about noisy gear. I replace fans in nearly anything that has'em. I can literally hear my line regulator's "hum/buzz" right now as I type--and my monitors are on loud (not playing anything--just saying it will be at a rockin' volume when I hit play).... I made a mistake using the word "noise" in my original post. What I mean by "quiet" is that I hear very little room or reverberation in many of these recordings. I have a big room. So, despite having 17 bass (all OC703, some 6" deep ) traps, and two 32″W x 72″H x 3″ GIK Screen panels, I cannot get the room out of my recordings. The large room reverberation is always there, though it is a heckuva lot better than it was before those 17 bass traps and two screen panels. I can't build a 4 wall isolation booth within the room for economic/resale reasons for my house. So, I'm looking at creating a corner with Acoustic Curtains/blankets and carpet. I've never done this. So, I am looking to see what other people are doing. That's exactly what I did. img.photobucket.com/albums/v313/capeguy63/IMG_20140312_185851_zps77740454.jpg

hey mobeach. thank you for the support, man. yeah, bad customer service on their part. I just got the drum bug recently, and researched quite a bit before buying my vdrums. I was astonished, when Roland customer support told me he said it would be unusual for them to make drivers for a discontinued model. I had just bought the freakin thing. it was by no means an old, obscure model. highly recommended on the vdrums forum. whatever. water under the bridge. but crazy, man. just crazy. This claims there's a solution for Win 10 www.vdrums.com/forum/advanced/technical/1118885-vdrums-windows-10-driver-solved

I would be persistent with their customer service, keep bugging them until they do it I have a Yamaha DTextreme Special 4 kit that I like, I'm not familiar with the options of Vdrums, I just record as an audio track and the module has MIDI of course.

I think the small ice rink is helping Montreal's game, they're faster skaters making it easier for them to bottle up Boston's attack. Rink is smaller today? Usually a bigger rink benefits a speedy team. it's definitely smaller than regulation, and the corners are much shallower. A smaller rink allows the faster team to close on the opposing puck carriers much more easily, it also allows a good defense to clog the neutral zone much more easily. Double edged sword but the B's are just being outplayed.

keeping in mind that I'm an amateur, and don't know much about really anything: upgraded to 10 on my old gateway laptop. listen to playbacks on Reaper. have not tried it for hardware. (I record on a different computer.) the only problem I had was that it changed Reaper to full screen, so there was no x box in the upper right corner. that was a real pain, until I stumbled on how to re-enable it. I read a post a while back by Justin (Reaper's creator). he said he would wait to upgrade to 10. all of that said, I was very psyched to get it back in August. I upgraded to 10 on my Sony Vaio laptop. but then went back to 7 because: - Reaper would not open - my Roland V-drums which I had purchased new from GC, 7 months earlier was not supported. I called Roland, they said it was discontinued and they probably would not be creating drivers for my model for Windows 10. I decided I would think twice before ever buying any Roland gear again. (they've since made drivers for it for 10. but I don't trust them after that experience. sorry to say something negative about them. I have been buying Roland gear since the 70's. whatever.) I'm on Win 10, when Roland wrote a new driver for my Um-One MIDI to USB adapter it just automatically updated when it came out, I didn't have to go looking for it. but I think it's unacceptable to not write a new driver for V-Drums, that sucks
