"It’s kind of a no-win situation to please all of us"
ALSO KNOWN AS... Kobayashi Maru
The Kobayashi Maru is a training exercise in the Star Trek franchise designed to test the character of Starfleet Academy cadets by placing them in a no-win scenario. The Kobayashi Maru test was first depicted in the 1982 film Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, and it has since been referred to and depicted in numerous other Star Trek media.

More available this time of year from specific importers. Been a bit more difficult to purchase kegs, especially since covid hit.

If I'm not mistaken, after many long talks with Barry, one of the main reasons Radar sounded so good, was its power supply?
As far as I'm concerned, the Radar Studio, with the ability to run other programs sucks! As Eric, and probably others have mentioned, the "Beos" operating system was the shit. THAT SET RADAR APART FROM ALL THE OTHER CRAP OUT THERE.
At the moment, my favorite machines are my Radar 6's with the Super Nyquist convertors, but I'd be just as happy with the Classic conversion!

I record at 192 every once in a while, usually for small acoustic projects. Can get 12 tracks out of my Radar Studio at that rate!
But as I said earlier, I recorded Hundreds of Records on my 5 Radar II machines, with the Classic convertors, and they just sounded right. Wonderful devices!

I love how they fucked up the #1 song... It's Nicky in the studio, 1968 during the filming of Jean Luc Godards film "Sympathy for the Devil" at Olympic Studios.
But your article has it as Street Fighting Man!
Don't believe everything you read~!

Eric "Yup, but original Nyquist are pretty good as well." They are, but not offered anymore from IZ, although you could get them used~!
Quint, You know, I really have no idea...I never had any of mine replaced, but then again, they are the newer cards. But as far as I know, (I sold all the old machines to friends) my 5 x Radar II's are all still working, without a hitch... SO who knows?

Considered to be one of the best Belgian Beers in the world. I give you St. Bernardus ABT. 12 A beautiful Belgian Quad, made by monks for hundreds of years. What can I say, other then this is the one beer that never gets swapped out at my private little pub. Always on tap back home. While I'm away, bottles will have to do. 10%ABV... A few of these, and you might find yourself entering the Priory!

Here ya go.. Classic 96, with big rock and roll sound. $1995. up to 96khz or Ultra Nyquist, $2495. 18 channels up to 192khz with lower noise and more air.
These are for 8 channels. Trust me, all you will ever need is the Classic convertors!
I've owned 5 unit with the classic convertors, and they rocked! Still have three, but these have the ultra Nyquist.. GO for the Classic.

Attachment DeletedAnd this afternoon, another beautiful, albeit chilly day here in Clearwater. Going with that, I believe I will pop the top on another wonderful Winter Ale. Samiclaus, which for all intents and purposes is a Barley Wine or as they put it a "triplebock" 14% ABV Like they used t say in my old neighborhood, "now d'is is a beautiful ting"

Every time I mix a tune in the box, and then do the same song spread out to my little summing rig, the resulting mix ALWAYS sound Deeper, Wider, Bigger, and in a word, just Better, much more 3D than the in the box mix, which sounds flatter to me. I believe the Summing mixer version just has more vibe, and emotion.

Yep, Like I said, I'm sure it's only me, especially since there's not too many old timers here on this forum that might have a mindset like me.
But I get it, he's very personable, has a great discography, and is basically a nice guy! What's not to like?
That said, I also stated years ago, his new console at the time, as beautiful and tricked out as it was as it was, was gonna go nowhere, simply because of the state of the industry. But have to give him credit for doing it. (I believe he sold two, maybe three, at most) (obviously no fault of his own)
I'm also on record as I believe his new place in Vermont is a very risky proposition to say the least~! I realize they (he and Grace) have some $$, but still that is a very BIG expenditure, and is one of those things that just keeps asking for $$$, whether or not there are clients in the room?
But what do I know?
No matter, I do wish them all the best with the new facility, and everything they do.

Maybe it's me, but I have to ask, does anyone here think that 90% of what Eric is doing, & discussing is a total waste of time? I think I could have achieved a drum sound, given those tracks in a few minutes, and made slight adjustments for each section, that would have taken less time than it took to watch that video~!
Now that said, I like Eric, his company, his products, etc... But, again, I'm sure it's only me the old guy, but boy does this seems like a waste of time in the real scheme of things. Carry on.

I figure I'd post this here, because there were quite a few panels / discussions, about about gear, recording, mastering, pressing / plating, and otherwise! Wonderful stuff all around.
That said,
I just came back from the three day event at Chris & (his wife) Yoli Mara's studio. "Welcome to 1979" in West Nashville. I went as a sponsor with my good buddy Gil Griffith, who owns, and runs, Wave Distribution.
I was to say the least a bit hesitant to attend, as I felt this wasn't a event for me, as I'm a bit older then what I expected most attendees would be, and it wouldn't provide anything useful for me, the old timer, as I've owned and operated my own studio since 1972!
But since I just moved to TN. from New York, and set my new place up in Hartsville, I really don't know anyone here, and if nothing more I'd meet some new people and see what happened!
But boy was I wrong!
Each event / seminar / discussion, was wonderful, and the people, even better... The attendees' were of all ages, and covered literally every genre of music. (although I'm not sure anyone was as old as I?)
The overall vibe was that you were at Chris' and Yoli's house, with a few close friends having fun, and discussing what we all love, the process of recording / mixing / making music. Very, very relaxed, and yet very informative!
I must tell you, young and old, new to this game, as well as veterans, this was a blast, and something I will be attending (if able) every year from here on!
More details I'm sure will be posted on their site soon enough.
I met some really great people, willing to share their experiences openly, without any quams. Very, very cool event.
