I'd be way more interested if a pair didn't take up 6 freaking u of space. Should be 2u. It's one of the reasons I've been eying the Tegeler EQP1A for a while. Dual mono EQP1A in a 2U space.

What are you guys using for monitoring with your Lynx N, as it doesn’t have a monitor out? The lynx has been at the top of my list for a while, but I’m not sure how I would monitor everything other than loosing a pair of channels and using that for monitoring.

It's not just gear demos, there's a mixer I fully respect and who does good work but has a demo section on his site of before and afters that are at least 10-12dB different. I can't remember who on here introduced me to this but it's still my favorite BS detector, has helped me more that a lot of other things. letimix.com/products/gainmatchTwo guys here do a great job. seawell and Vincent R. both provide actually helpful gear demos. Thanks! I try my best using various meters to match levels as close as possible. It is the only way to keep things fair.

Will I still be able to use the headphone amps in the quad? Sure. A SF with a TB card in it aggregates in the driver just like any Apollo and you can access its headphone amps. See below for an example. Thanks Drew.

Drew @ UA , I have a questions about linking the Apollos. I have an old Apollo Quad Silverface and I'm debating adding n Apollo x16 to add to my rig. I'd like to keep the Quad around for the monitoring (headphones, etc), but use the x16 for my tracking inputs and AD/DA for outboard gear. Is there any detriment sonically to using the quad for monitoring vs the x16? Do I have to hook them up after in a particular order? I hope that makes sense. You'll want to use the x16 as your main interface for its superior D/A and clocking. It'll feed your Mons, Alt Mons, and Cues. Will I still be able to use the headphone amps in the quad?

Man - I just can’t get past the look of the mics. If they’re willing to let the outside look like cost cutting examples of these mics - what’s on the inside? What’s the saying? Don’t throw good money over bad. Are we taking about the same mics? goldenagepremier.com/ga-47-extended/That looks pretty good to me. And you can see what’s inside too... These all look really nice.

I remember they ended up using a foam windscreen on the SP 67, for Linda R. Guessing it might have helped protect the capsule from Linda's more high decibel level moments. Chris It also mellows out the top end just a bit.

Grab a Kiwi and a Demeter VTMP and never look back! A lot of Stings vocals on his records have been recorded with a Demeter VTMP - it's a very underrated pre-amp! I think it's a great pre - perfect with a Kiwi. Yeah, I had one for a while. Debating grabbing one again, especially to use with my U87ai. I’m itching to grab a Kiwi of my own at some point. I actually like using the combo of the U87ai and Kiwi for duets and such.

Linda used the Stephen Paul modded 67 on the "What's New" album/all Riddle material. Was her favorite studio microphone. Chris P.S. The Elton and Justin Hayward 67's were incredible too... Stephen Paul's mod opens the top end up a bit, right? Pretty sure Natalie Cole used one of his U67s too.

Still loving my modded MK U67. I've actually been really torn between it and my FleA 49 of late. It's more an aesthetic choice than one being better than the other. My orchestrator/mix engineer for the Christmas Album flat out prefers Emily on the U67. I was a little torn at first, but reminded myself that Natalie Cole among other modern female crooners with strong voices often used U67s for their albums. I believe Linda Ronstadt used either a U67 of M269 for her Nelson Riddle Songbook albums and they are fantastic.
For me the choice becomes sounding a bit like a crooner or leaning more toward the classical/crossover sound of the Sergio Franchi or old school Broadway albums I love so much. He he. I have found the U67 much better on my voice while doing pop or rock styled pieces. It's not as thick, but still warm. I've done a few session vocals with it over the last year and recorded a few people through it of varying styles before the pandemic hit; female pop/rock, male rock/R&B, etc. It always works. I want another one....

I tried a Lauten Atlantis (fc-387) and I thought it was pretty great. It’s a seriously versatile work horse mic.

Mullards provide great harmonic content. They tend to roll off a bit of top end, but on brighter mics that can be a good thing,

I don’t know enough about the Sontronics mics. Best of luck with it and please share your thoughts and some clips after you get it.

Curious to hear your thoughts on the SPX. I've got the DPX here myself. I’ll definitely share some clips once I take it for a spin. Hoping it’ll beat my Wunder... we’ll see! Are you using the A/D card with your DPX? I’d be curious to try that against my Lynx. No. Just going into my Apollo.

Couple things came in today. Gotta say the BLA looks a lot classier in person. I know it's stupid, but I was initially kind of on the fence about the looks of it. Totally resolved that concern once it actually came in. Curious to hear your thoughts on the SPX. I've got the DPX here myself.
