I don’t disagree was just trying to highlight options, the most shortsighted decision people make is not getting more dsp the first time: always cheaper in the long run with UA once you have drunk the koolaide ! So true! That’s why I own two Duos and am looking for a quad. I don’t know whether to laugh or cry. Of course, when I drank the UAD koolaid, there was no such thing as an Octo.

IMHO the CC Reverb won't translate well for most mixes. Sure it sounds velvety smooth acapella and with a few sparse instruments allocated to their corners but I will ride this one out like the 480L for different reasons. I kind of found that too...but there are settings that can work in more dense settings.

For me, it blends better than anything else as a vocal reverb. Not having as much success using it as an instrument reverb, but haven't been actively trying to make it work much that way either. With this extension, maybe I'll end up getting it. Just having trouble finding a use for the other stuff I don't have in the workflow I designed after my Octo went defective for good. So far the Ampex is the only thing that is an exception to that beyond the FX stuff. But I don't really need the FX except maybe the Softube Vocoder. Zener feels like overkill when replacing an instance of NLS Buss. Maybe I would just do Capitol/Ampex/Vocoder/Shadow Hills.

I've been thinking about both at the 4 bundle price during the sale,.... which leads me to ask what were you're reasons for passing on the 480L ?

I like tracking with a ton of plug-ins so as to get that heightened emotional feel because everything sounds so great, and the 480L is a ball hog while eating a ton of DSP plus adding more latency than some of the other great sounding reverbs like the *EMT 140* and the Lexicon 224 which fits better IMHO for the totality of an entire mix. The 480L while having a signature sound which sounds good doesn't seem to blend quite as well with *all* of the tracks. Some producers have had hits with the EMT 140 even on the master bus so all of the tracks had some of that ooey gooey sweet glue vibe to them.

Yes, but after being on both sides of the fence, I still think it helps for two to tango in Paris or paradise unless it is the same person. Hopefully royalties and points if not.

Ugh...I'm dying over here. I had decided to pass on the sale and my demos of both the CC and CL1B ran out...honestly, didn't get to use them as much as I wanted...and then I get a 12 song mixing project of: Classic Standards lol. I thought I might be able to call UA and get them to reset demos so I could try and compare in this project, but I guess they're gone for the July 4th holiday.

Any cheapies you’ve been wanting to buy? It’ll reset your demos. How about the Brainworx tuner? That thing is handy as hell and I totally bought it to reset my demos once upon a time. Like $15 or something.

Yeah, all the guys are with their families for the holiday, sorry. But Monday is close. Let me know if you need any help getting it done then.
We had to discontinue the sale of the tuner by itself because unscrupulous users were using it as a way of "subscribing" to all plugins for $40 a month.
