Later silverface Bassman are pretty clean. My blackface Bassman is pretty clean until you start getting pretty loud.

Yes I’m referring to the later Fender Bassmans. I have a Fender Ten (I think it’s called) bassman from the 70’s that really doesn’t distort at all. Its just clean and warm sounding.
I guess I’m the opposite of others out there. I’d rather have my Amps newer (70’s) and my tape machine older (50/60’s) than what UAD is currently offering.

Instant retro, I love it on certain things.

So the A/D and D/A both have 129 db dynamic range? And maybe I'm blind, but where is the built-in talkback mic?

So we don't really know much about this new AD/DA, right?
If conversion was on par with the Symphony MKII I switched to, I'd consider going back to Apollo Land.
I don't know though. I feel pretty at home with the Symphony MKII.
How much of a sonic upgrade do we think we're talking over the Blackface Apollos?

That's the real question isn't it. It would be nice to forget about converters for a while and just get on with the music.

I see where you are coming from. It's a bit ambiguous.
However, I think they mean "That's where UA's powerful 6-core HEXA Core processor(processor meaning the entire array of sharcs working as one amount of DSP) comes in. This processor yields 50% more power than the previous generation(previous generation could mean Apollo not necessarily UAD chips).
Just a guess. It does leave me wondering if not for the explanations I've heard to the contrary.

The previous generation Apollos had a max of 4 processors. The new generation has 6 processors. The number 6 is 50% more than the number 4. For me this makes obvious sense and doesn't seem misleading at all, but you aren't the only one confused by it.

There's a Talk button in console when you click the Cue Outputs button. You can click talk there or assign a footswitch to it which is cool as hell.

The function button can also be assigned to the Talkback.

Does the +24 button eliminate the need for a cloudlifter?

Wouldn’t you need a cloudlifter before the pre not after the output ?

Does the +24 button eliminate the need for a cloudlifter? +24 means you get less gain (not more) when interfacing... comparing to +4 or -10.

I want to record something with a modern microphone/instrument and have it come out literally sounding like this...

If people like the Apollo workflow but not completely satisfied with the converters....why not just route a few Lynx or whatever else via ADAT? Best of both worlds.
You can use Lynx for critical applications....but you still get some multi-purpose converters, for say drum channels or whatever else.

Some have done that. It's also about choosing which converter, weighing cost, etc. If the new Apollo converters do rival the high end converters, especially the Symphony MK II, then a one box solution becomes very attractive and actually a smart move financially.
