People have already proven with the 8p that you can run 8 73 unison pres while tracking: that’s a fact not a supposition. But that was about it as in board dsp including console load was pretty well maxed. Now, with X you still have 2 more sharc chips per apollo. So, I was hoping Drew would say, yes , in addition to the 16 instances of 73 unison pres, you could add , say 1176’s and 2a’s in the daw and or run your aux verbs in console ? Right. I am not challenging that fact, rather trying to estimate what I would be able to run in Unison. For instance, a 1073 and Studer, how about an 1176, too? That sort of thing matters as someone who's never used an Apollo needs to know if I am considering buying one. So I was just checking to see if I was interpreting the instance chart correctly to add up what I may be able to run or not in a Unison situation.
As far as the 1176s and 2as in the DAW, that could be useful.

So I just did a test with 1 x8P. In Console: I got eight 1073s in Unison slots, 6 of them with LA2 Silvers in slot 1, 2 with DBX 160s in slot1. Lex 224 and Galaxy on the two auxes. This got me to 80% DSP usage. I then opened Pro Tools and inserted two 1176 rev As in stereo, one rev a in mono and a mono Distressor. DSP @ 93%. Is this helpful? If not, let me know a test you'd like me to do.

Oh ya, so everything after the 8 73’s is because of X’s new typology and the extra sharc chips.
Seriously hat’s off to the UA design team for doubling down: that is very impressive!

I don’t think it’s a bandwidth issue. I’m pretty sure it’s to keep latency down when Recording with UAD plug-ins

Correct. Even TB1 has WAYYY more bandwidth than our entire system needs.

Still no fix on saving the console channel names?
