hacked.
GS clamping down and deleting threads.
Should people not talk about it?
Seems a very big deal.
People that steal shit are shitheads.

Wonder if this will mean more developers going to UAD exclusively, since it's less likely someone would spend the time to recode/emulate DSP chip instructions.
Users and big and small time developers alike deserve some official explanation from PACE about how they fucked up. Lots of investment down the drain.
Moral of the story is invest in hardware for fundamentals where possible, not plugins, which are purely a musical investment. Slate and relab users got screwed twice now with non-prorated subscription and now this.

The Ilok offers portability that UAD can't. the hackers were probably more interested in personal info that they can sell than anything else !

Not gonna see Dave Derr's Distressor plug anytime soon now. Was weeks away from release. He dodged a major bullet though.

Bugger iLok 3 now. Hope its a lot smaller. Lot's of cheering on the pirate site's sticking it to the big corporations forgetting iLok excluding a couple of company's are all mainly tinny company's employing a few developers and they are going to get hurt which means less good stuff being developed. Wonder what this means for Avid their share price is already in the toilet. Also wonder if slate will hold off on the virtual microphone I know it has the hardware mic but would you want the software floating around cracked? Sad Xmas for some good people. Way less plugins being released for a while. Only bright side its probably good for @johnkenns wallet with less plugin releases causing bad GASS

Mixed bag to say the least. I don't feel DRM is the way forward, and I don't think it protects income the way vendors have been lead to believe. That said, it sucks that they've spent all this money on a service that is now essentially useless. These people just have to block port access for iLok and they will have use of this stuff forever.
I don't and wont use iLok. I'd suggest vendors shouldn't either. It's constant rigmaroles with expensive 3rd party software that neither the vendor nor the customer has any control over. What's to be done? Could Steven Slate go back to iLok and seek for damages? I'd guess that be a nice, long court battle.

All these links are gone. What gives? Many threads are being delayed all over because of course the talk of the hack leads to talk of software piracy ! And most sights inc GS find even the mention to be against the rules!

I never trusted iLok since it locked me out of my sessions twice, once for 5 days and once for 2 days. It felt like the rights to my own property were taken away. I was always curious why a company like Slate didn't develop their own proprietary system like UAD did.
Ericn, UAD is somewhat portable. If you have a Twin and a satellite, you can do almost anything you want with them. Sure, it's not the same as a dongle, but they're not that big and work flawlessly.

It do suck and everybody has had issues, but pros need a portable standard and it's what we got !

You can find the downloads Not sure if they work I won't steal and would not trust them even if I was that way inclined but you can find them. GS are crazy stopping the discussion the cat is out of the bag. I like my iLok it was easy to change computers and nice keeping track of my plugin's plus it fells good to have a tangible item that has some value. But this crack means a new one will be coming. Remember they cracked iLok 1 years ago..

I'm not 100% sure it's true because the guy who started the thread is on my ignore list for trolling.
Supposedly iLock 2 can be updated and the iLock manager can lock out any dongles that haven't been updated. It also needs to check in every so often for an iLock 2 to work at all.
My position is that rather than blaming the victims, people ought to be blaming the scumbags who use cracked software. Cracks have put many audio software developers out of business leaving us users with nothing for our investment.

It's true I won't post the link's but for win users iLock2 protection is busted the software is cracked so even if they patch the hole the cracked software is still out there. This is going to hurt some good people.
