It feels extra special getting it directly from Klaus. He took a lot of care preparing it and making sure everything was perfect. The man is a microphone wizard.
He says it sounds amazing and "right in the middle" of how a U47 is supposed to sound.
We shall see in a few days.

Can't wait for your first video with it.
It'll be easy to compare it to some of your previous vids where you used the Flea

I need some education. How often was the Telefunken brand mark on the U47? I thought those were only Neumann.

Lots of great surprises on the forum today! That's impressive. Does it have the fabled VF14 tube? Indeed, it does. Carried down from the gods on unicorn wings. The Pegasus had wings, the Unicorns did not. Know your mythology! LOL Congrats on such a stellar piece of kit. This might be the first I've seen that rivals winetree's Serial #37 Neumann U47 - which looks like a new build.

A show is equal to a full gig, (but may vary in characteristics: duration, time, place and pay) not to be confused with unused digital storage amounts: although memories of shows and gigs (including partial shows) can be held in analog memory, regardless of digital storage capacity:)

Great news Bluegrassdan! Your search fr the holy grail is over. I hope it's all you've hoped for.
Sirthought, I don't know how many were made, but the Telefunken label was just that, a label. The mics are the same, or as "the same" as any two Neumann's can be ;-)

A quick Goggle search and I can’t find any explanation of how many Telefunken-badged U47s were shipped.

Evidently, this one spent a certain part of its life in Finland at one of their national public broadcasting stations. The power supply is not an original Neumann, but some sort of vintage German supply Klaus bought in Cologne back in the 1980s at the Westdeutscher Rundfunk.

Telefunken was the original distributor Neumann used to sell their mics outside germany. Older mics are generally telefunken badged. Mine came first from Danmarks Radio and Then Puk Studios. I have a couple of Neumann power supplies. Any originals are surely rebuilt. The huge capacitors in them leak eventually
As far as I remember there are no telefunken badged short body U47's

From Klaus Heyne's Microphone Forum: Re: Neumann (U47) distribution in September 1950...? « Reply #6 on: March 06, 2009, 11:41:44 pm » David@The-Tone-Room wrote on Fri, 06 March 2009 08:40 Quote: I thought Neumann microphones were first distributed by Telefunken until Neumann took over their own distribution.
To paraphrase, from my book: Telefunken, a part-owner of Neumann, had Neumann U47s badged with the Tele diamond whenever Tele provided Neumann distribution or turn-key studio installations in Germany and Europe, since the beginning of the U47's run, in 1948/49. Telefunken required that pretty much all equipment delivered through the firm was to be badged as 'Telefunken'. Tele also had the exclusive rights to export to the U.S. (administered by American Elite in New York, for reasons having to do with Berlin's post-war status.) Those mics of course bore the Tele diamond, until mid-1958 when Gotham/Temmer took over. After that time, all Neumann mics imported into the U.S. had Neumann badges, while Telefunken continued to distribute (and badge) some Neumann mics until its relationship with Neumann ended in the mid-1960s. All through this time, those Neumann mics not sold or distributed through Telefunken had the Neumann badge. Quote: But I have a U47 with a large chrome Neumann badge (not a Tele badge) dated by Neumann as being made in September 1950. Could this be right? Yes. See above. Worth mentioning also: Aside of its badge, both models are 100% identical in their technical execution, build quality and performance. Even the ‘Neumann’ i.d. plates to be found on the rear of all Neumann mics of the time, were the same.

I can't imagine that many U47/U48's had a Telefunken badge after '58 because Telefunken asked AKG at that time to manufacture the ELA M251 because they could no longer distribute the U47

A quick Goggle search and I can’t find any explanation of how many Telefunken-badged U47s were shipped. Try a Binocular search. It seems to work better than Goggle.

I don't know how many were badged with Telefunken, but it seems we've collected a few around here! Mine was originally purchased by DesiLu (Lucy Show and the original Star Trek), then Paisley Park, then here.
