There’s also this: link
Phoenix Audio. I don’t know if this would meet people’s needs, no idea how it sounds, and no affiliation or even a customer of Zen. Just noticed it was on sale there so passing that info on in case it may be of interest. As for the console thing, I basically gave mine away after it sat for a while after I went the Daw route. I’m a couple tracks at a time. I figure that the odds of me recording a full band again are remote, and if it were to happen I can rent whatever else I’d need. I guess the only thing I’d add for Martin is if he did go for even a small console don’t forget to budget for the cabling and headphones/ monitoring needs, which will not be insignificant. Cheers, Geoff

My experience was mainly with high end boards, so my ears are spoiled. That’s what I hear when I use the SB, not just console sound, but high end console type sound. And the ability to run the Neve type tone into API type, or vice versa adds something extra you don’t really get through just a single console.

Will the SB ever have the hardware plugin cards that the Chromas have? You can follow the Silver Bullet - with a pair of Mr. Focus modules (or patch them into the inserts), and have an additional band of EQ - Tilt style - and two of the Hardware Plugin slots you mention per side - L/R. That;s the best solution IMO at this point in time. BTW, for those unaware, the hardware plugins guitfiddler is referring to are the DIYRE Colour modules. LTL, DIYRE and several other developers support that format. drsax - how are you using your Mr. Focus modules? With the SB or separately, or ??

I use my pair of Mister Focus modules after a pair of Chromas. Like a 500 series tone shaping chain... beastly!! But I will say this, as powerful as the Chroma/Mister Focus modules are (especially together), the Silver Bullet as a unit, leaves me pretty much completely satisfied constantly. I wouldn’t want the SB with any more options, or any less. (ok, I’d like a front panel power switch) They are near perfection. If I could only keep one LTL product, no doubt it would be the Silver Bullet. As cool as the Chromas, MF, and color modules are, to me, the elegance and sonic depth of the SB is on another level. And I’m not downplaying the Chroma & MF... it’s just that the SB delivers an instant gratification that I have rarely experienced outside of a few very select and expensive pieces I have a few pairs of color modules. The Mass Drivers, the Royal Blues, and I’m test driving a pair of the updated Pentodes from Brad... all very nice - I love em’ - but sometimes, the choices can be a tad bit overwhelming. And a little time consuming. This is one of the reasons the SB edges in front for me. Just the right amount of choices, and options balanced with incredible sound and workflow. IMO there’s a reason the Silver Bullet is what I consider the flagship LTL product and always will be. That said... all my LTL gear is sonically incredible and not replicated by other gear I have. And to keep this thread on topic, the reason I posted here recommending the SB to Martin John Butler is because I was considering moving to a console before I tried the SB. I always loved the workflow and recall of ITB and Hybrid, but the sound of a console. After trying the SB I felt like I got it all... Console-like Sound, ITB speed and recallabilty, and Hybrid goodness with lots of outboard. My recall takes between zero and 30 seconds, depending on whether I have my Bricasti reverb, Clariphonic MS or SCL-1 comp patched in. I keep one of my SB’s set one way on the Master buss. The knobs never move. My second SB is used for other processing or if I want to try different setting on the master buss. But even when I had one SB, switching settings was easy, and recallability was precise, not a problem at all. All my Outboard gets printed into the session, so the Bricasti, Clariphonic and SCl-1 Comp are the only variables for recall if they get used on a particular session

Thanks for the info guys.
