Other than my Symphony MKII interface, the AXE FX III is the most used gear in my studio. I use it every single day for something. The thing is pretty amazing.

I just started using the SPDIF out on the AXE III to free up a couple analog inputs for my OX amp since I record everything at 48k and the SPDIF works great for the AXE and sounds great.

I commit 90% of the time. Sometimes I like to record the wet and dry tracks at the same time using the AXE FX usb interface so I can easily re-amp by flipping though different settings until I find something that really fits. It's nice to have the option easily at your finger tips.

I guess she got an early copy of LUNA with Neve summing so that big console is no longer needed. . I kid!

Quck question, I haven't read the entire thread, anyone using the Axe-FX III as a DAW effects processor? I've played around with the re-amping feature on the AXE III. It not only works well for guitars, but I set up a preset and re-amped vocals also. The AXE has killer effects.

I started messing with Studio One when the first version came out and now after almost 18 years with Pro Tools I've moved over to Studio One full time and the latest version has been rock solid for me. It was a pretty easy transition from Pro Tools since you can just select the Pro Tools key commands settings in Studio One.

Just curious since I was thinking about adding an Apollo X, are the X series Apollos not up to the task when it comes to the DA? I had thought they were vastly improved over the Apollo Blackface, which is all I have experience using before I moved over to the Symphony MKII. They sound great...just wanted to see if something else sounded greater...I'd buy it from somewhere with a return policy. Thanks JK, that makes me feel better. I am really thinking about getting back into an Apollo with an X series. I wonder if I could feed the Apollo into my Symphony 2x6SE for DA and monitoring. I really like the idea of the Apollo with Luna for tracking since I have so many UAD plugs.

Anyone have any feedback on the bx-console N from Plugin Alliance. I received an email that it is on sale for $49 and wondering if it is worth it. I have the SSL E series from Plugin Alliance and I am pretty happy with it, but wondering about thoughts from those who have used the N version.

It will be interesting to see how the Neve summing feature works out. Just on the surface and after watching the full live stream it seems very similar to what Studio One did with their console shaper that is built in for busses and the main out.

I read through the VK add before it got taken down. Looks like UAD is introducing their own DAW with Neve summing emulation. Oh well, it will save me a lot of money since I was willing to jump into UAD full boat if it would have been a fully integrated control surface.

I sooo hope it is not a synth, but the way music is being made today, it would not surprise me.

Maybe it will be a way to use the UAD console similar to the way you can mix with the Metric Halo MIO Console, and then mix down to the stereo two track within the device. This could be something to move me away from my Apogee setup to a fully integrated UAD world. Hell, I already have two satellites and an OX, I would be up for a fully integrated system with control surface.

I’ve got Melodyne, Autotune, and Revoice Pro. I prefer Revoice Pro out of the bunch. Just seems to work well and is pretty easy to use.

After getting the Silver Bullet and getting all my outboard running through a patch bay so I can use my hardware comps and eqs as inserts like Dr. Bill (on a much, much, much smaller scale) I sold my Dangerous 2Bus+. As much as I liked the 2Bus+, the Silver Bullet with an audioscape bus comp on the inserts made me realize I no longer needed it. I'm so tempted to get a second Silver Bullet since the one I have stays permanently on the mix bus and it would be fun to have one to use randomly on individual channels. Having another couple of awesome pre amps in it is another bonus.

If you have a Piezo equipped acoustic check out Brett Kingman's acoustic presets that he just put out called Burg's Acoustic. I've been playing with them all morning with my Tom Anderson Crowdster and they sound really good.

You can run it through something like a Matrix power amp or the new Fryette LXII and into a standard cabinet, or pretty much any power amp for that matter. You can also run it direct into the return on your tube amp and out through your speaker cab of choice. It also sounds great just run into something like a QSC K12.2 or 10.2 or other like them. In addition to the great sound the thing is so flexible with all of its I/O. There is also a 4 cable method that lets you run your standard tube amp and use the AXE for just it's effects if that is all you want.
If you like the amp in the room sound when you are recording, you can run output one direct to your interface for direct recording and run output two to your preferred amp and cabinet or into a FRFR powered speaker and adjust the outputs independently.

I've got the UAD OX and I am very happy with it. Works great with my 100 watt Two Rock and works just as well with my 13 watt Echopark Vibramatic 13. I am a Mac user and the app has also worked great for me. Now that they've added some new speaker cabinets is is even better.

Another really cool thing about the AXE FX is the ease in re-amping. This not only works great for guitar, but because the effects in the AXE FX are so good, you can set up a preset with an FX chain that includes just effects like EQ, Compression, Delay, Reverb, etc. and re-amp a vocal using the effects in the AXE rather than plugins. It really is a versatile box with a lot of studio capabilities.

There is absolutely no way someone could tell it wasn't real amps. Zero. With the Kemper, I used to say, yeah it's 95% there and 99% of people couldn't tell. But if you were in a control room and were playing it and a real amp, the guitar player absolutely wouldn't know either. The feel of the thing is different...the sag and the dynamic way it reacts and sounds. Add on to that, there is the ability to change the tone with the different cabs and there are like 2000 of those. I realize software has that capability, but it doesn't sound like this thing. Maybe it's how Bricasti owners feel about the M7 vs. software...that's the way I feel about this. I still haven't recorded a tune with it and I can't freaking wait to do it. But I've gotten lost for hours in the damn thing. I downloaded Leon Todd's Blackface Fenders and Brett Kingman's "Vox Block" presets. Princeton, Vibrolux, Deluxe, Tremolux, Bassman, and AC30, AC30TB, AC15, AC20 and couple of others I think. I mean, holy shit. If this box ONLY had these, it would be worth the price of admission for me. Then the Marshalls and Mesas. Holy shit. I would fully agree with this assessment. I had been using Leon Todd's Fender presets and I just downloaded the Vox Block presets and have been playing with them for the last 1/2 hour. These are really good, thanks for the heads up.

I still love my Two Rock 100 watt Bloomfield Drive tube amp and a couple of others I have, but 9 times out of 10, I turn on the AXE FX and make music. I keep output one L&R connected to my patch bay for recording the analog outs into my Symphony MKII. The L&R of output 2 go to a pair of QSC K10.2s on stands for cranking the AXE for fun time. I also keep the USB connected to the studio Mac Mini for capturing quick ideas when I don't have my Apogee interface on since the AXE works well as a recording interface also.

I had a buddy in town a few weeks ago and we were working on some song ideas in the studio. We put this together with all guitar, bass, and resonator parts going direct into the AXE FX III to see how it would come out. There is no post processing in Studio One other than to add a limiter on the master buss, these are all just straight AXE FX into Studio One. There are three acoustic guitar parts all done direct into the AXE FX with a Tom Anderson Crowdster, a resonator part, bass part, and an electric guitar part. Drums are SD3. I just did a basic leveling on the tracks through headphones using the AXE FX as the interface.
