I am a big fan of the Tone King amps having owned the Falcon, Metropolitan, and now loving the Sky King. Although I've not owned one, I really like the Imperial and have played it numerous times. I was looking at the Imperial Anniversary edition and liked it a lot, just decided I preferred the Sky King at the time.

Another vote for the Frontier Designs Tranzport. I've been using one since they first came out and still have not found anything I like better for what it does.

I've had the Raven mti for about a month now and it has been great. I don't experience any lag and it has been one of my best purchases for enhancing workflow. It's also very enjoyable to use.

I will definitely be adding this to the collection this weekend.

I couldn't help myself for $19.95 so I just purchased an hour ago, received by download link and license. I was surprised how easy it was to get up and running. The glass of wine probably helped. Just drug in a few wav files from a pro tools 11 session to play around with it. It sounds really good and seems pretty intuitive.

Has anyone here done head to head comparisons on the Retro Sta vs the Retro 176. I have a Retro Power Strip and love it but was thinking of adding another flavor and really like the Retro gear. I will probably use it for the usual duties both tracking & mixing on acoustic guitars, resonator, violin, vocals. Again, not that the power strip is not awesome, but just looking for opinions.

mjb, this is my first exposure to using a ribbon mic on acoustics so I have not tried any others. I agonized for a while on picking up the R84 vs a Royer 121/122, but everything kept bringing me back to the R84. I had typically been micing acoustic with a stereo matched set of small condensors in the standard xy setup, but have been experimenting more and more using my Pearlman TM-1. Adding the R84 to the TM-1 just seemed to give me the crisp sound matched with a good fullness for the type of country rock I like to record.

I was playing around micing acoustic this past weekend using a Pearlman TM-1 about 9 inches off the 12th fret direct into my metric halo uln8 and then placing a new AEA R84 through a Retro powerstrip straight out down the middle about 18 inches aimed just at the top of the body of a McPherson acoustic. Panned hard L and R and was very happy how it came out. Really fun experimenting with different techniques and gear.

Thanks for the welcome. Like others I probably agonized over vintage verb vs room verb for way too long and should have gotten both, but I am very happy with vintage verb and I figure learning one thing at a time is enough for my brain.

First post, but I've been following this forum for some time. Just wanted to join in and say I've been using Valhalla Vintage for a couple of weeks in PT11 without a single glitch or issue.
