Apparently, the emails have cleared customs! I just heard from Joshua and looks like things will be moving soon Well, everytime I hear from him, things are about to be moving soon. It was late August when he told me my order "can probably ship this week" (not an ADG order!!!). Somehow he's kept me hanging on for more than 2 months... ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png)

I’ve just realized that all I need is a couple more cables and I can run my I/O at 96k (Focusrite Clarett Octopre into RME Fireface 802). I might just have to switch now!
I wonder how taxing it would be on the computer though. And I will need a disk space calculator to figure out the extra cost in disk space.
Now, I’m in the middle of a project where drums and bass have already been recorded to 48k in Logic. Would you upsample and continue?

I've reamped piano parts with great success, but as reverb. i.e. stereo mic in the back of the room and record the room.

Most everywhere I look, be it at Sweetwater, other retailers, or even at the Softube site, the images for the C1 only include the first bank of track numbers (#1-20) at the top of the unit, but in this video, I see numbers for the second bank. I wonder if the current sale reflects an unloading of old stock and if there are any additional upgrades that may not be included in the older units. The older mkI units are long gone. I have one of those and it retains the same functionality as the current mkII

Short replies (on phone). Yes, buy it.
1. Yes, it happens infrequently. It really is no big deal. Unplug/plug and restart the software. If it was such a big deal I would configure Mac to never sleep.
2. You don’t need anything extra. The included SSL 4000 is amazing. I did buy the Neve and the API on some sales, but you don’t need them. The API is really good too.
3. You can’t. And you won’t need to!
It really changed my mixing and this year I won’t be renewing the Slate bundle. I just need the Slate tape (which I own), and MAYBE the buss compressors for the few times I’m entirely in the box.

CM47 on kick out here as well. I need to pad the output heavily but the mic can take the SPL just fine. Sounds great!
For some reason it’s never my facorite on vocals. It’s always good but it’s usually trumped by other mics, and I really want it to win! I might need to experiment more with polar patterns and proximity.

Stormymondays, this thread's gotten so long, did you choose a mic yet? Saving up for a U67 reissue! And maybe an AEA R44 down the line...

44.1 for the past 20 years, I just made a move to 48 because most stuff goes to video as well. There are also some reputable engineers that I trust that recommended the move.
I know the benefits of higher rates with plugin aliasing, but I’d rather keep my track counts and ADAT I/O.

Strangely, I seem to always choose other verbs over seventh heaven...I just never feel like it sounds better... Are you using the classic Bricasti presets? I would never do a mix without it! Studio B Close is a must on probably everything. Sunset Chamber, Rich Plate, the wooden rooms, etc.

Impressed with the British-Decca made DAV BG pre & the Sweedish made Line Audio also. Have never bought without really trying something but for those of you that recommended these can you elaborate a little more. Leaning towards these 2. For the price it's sort of a no-brainer as I've seen they compete with the "highest end" pres. I have the 4-pre rack in my studio. No issues at all and it gets a lot of use. Just last week it came on top for acoustic guitar recording (J45 through KM84) as everyone’s favorite, even against a Chroma and a Tree Audio. I’ve never found it noisy. It gets a lot of use for drums as well and acoustic instruments in general.

Also, it’s difficult without knowing your room but take off the rug if there is one, or pick a spot with wooden floor.

I've been using the KM84s for a few weeks now. One of them I LOVE, the other sounds weird, and it's the capsule, for sure (have swapped them and the weirdness follows the capsule). I'm gonna risk just ordering a single new capsule from Neumann in the hope that it matches the "good" one better. They are definitely not "tonally identical" as I stated above! Just wanted to gush a bit though, I am floored by this thing. Been doing a lot of mono recording with acoustic guitar, strummed and finger picked, experimenting with position etc. There's definitely something to be said for backing it off a bit more than I usually do. 12" sounds great, but 15" sounds even better, 60dB gain with the TG2. I will keep trying different things. I've never had guitar recordings that sound so good and right, whether I'm recording at 44 or 96. It really is insane/magical, big smiles all round. Sounds like a record with very minimal EQ needed (HPF, little bit of bass cut, little bit of mid boost). Does anyone have any tips for doing the "search for the best mic position while playing guitar and wearing headphones" for a solo performer/recorder? If only I had an assistant. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) I guess keeping the mic stationary on it's stand, but moving around it with the guitar while listening and playing? Would love to be able to really hone in on the best sound for this guitar/room combo. IMO only a few positions to try: 20-30-45 cm and fret 12 vs fret 15 (or where the fretboard meets the body). Just press rec and move the chair. Take a listen, done. Remember to gain up the more distant takes.

So can we preorder through a dealer in Europe? I got my Weight Tank from SX Pro in the U.K.

Can you point me to some of this corroborating research? This one will do, even if only the abstract is accessible for free: www.aes.org/e-lib/browse.cfm?elib=5547"Absolute polarity is an interesting phenomenon (wherein) those who don't hear the effect mostly doubt the opinion of those who do. (John Roberts, AES) A newly-devised test (herein called triple-blind) once-and-for-all assesses polarity audibility variously among audio engineers, hobbyists and musicians. Results decisively affirm the sensation; many trial subjects moreover testify that Absolute Polarity's palpable reality constitutes an essential addition to the audio engineering armament."

Load them in Logic and bounce them to 16 bits enabling dither on the bounce.

Also you need to figure out VAT. I think you can choose USA as the country to see prices in USD without added VAT.

I understand you’re taking about vinyl. The test pressings only serve one purpose: to locate any defects on the master, like a click that happens at the same spot on all test copies. Any changes to the sound requiere a new master and they are right to charge you for it.
Edit: I hadn’t seen your reply above mine. I don’t know if any pressing plant that would create new masters for free if they are not defective.

Communication is still terrible. I can’t get a reply about the 67 I preordered 10 months ago, nor the half price SA2A he offered as a compensation. I’m averaging a reply out of every 4 emails.
