Just to expand on that...yes - they sound fantastic. I didn’t get to do the room setup - it’s pretty complicated...but from what I could tell they sounded great. $9k better than what I have? I have a hard time with that. The D&D setup gets fairly easy once you get used to it, they could definitely have a better control method but luckily you don't have to do it often. Did you ever get to try the active ATC 20's? I didn’t. Really, the BFs were at the top of my price range and I was really happy that I liked the Amphions better. Guess I could’ve gotten the passive 20s though. Didn’t think about that. My guy really thought the ATC’s weren’t really special until you got to the 25 with the midrange driver.

I often hear that people prefer the 20's over the 25's, especially for mixing. I often think about that pair of 25's I had for a bit. Every now and then I regret selling them.

I'd try the active 20's if you get a chance, might just be my taste but with a sub I like them more than 25's. I was in a mastering session really where he had soffited 110's. I was quite surprised how similar the overall sound/vibe was to my 20's, I wasn't lost or wondering what was going on. That said Amphions are also really nice, if I could've swung it I would've kept my One18's. I don't miss my Barefoot MM35's at all. Either way good luck with your search. Always interesting to see what works for others.

OK...going back and forth after Sonarworks with both of them... Are you running Sonarworks at 100% for the dry/wet blend or how are you using it? I'm just starting to test it out this week.

You thought about trying the Neumann kh120s? Didn’t want front potted speakers. Thought about the 310s. Should’ve tried.

I never really fell in love with the 25’s I think it might be that trying to get 3 drivers to “sum” in the near field had a lot to do with it. There is something very special about the 20’s as a system they just work, but matching with a sub is a bitch, they really like good set of stereo subs.

I’ve been breaking in the footprint 02’s the past couple weeks and I’m really loving them, just had a question for others.
When I shut these babies off, one speaker pops a little bit on shut down, the other does not. Is this normal? I’ve been trying my best to break these in and test everything out to make sure they’re in perfect working condition.
EDIT- I shouldn’t type without having coffee 1st! I shut things down in typical order, speakers one by one, then my interface. Then computer

Whoops- edited for content! That is the order I usually do things! Monitors 1st, interface then computer. Regardless a small pop, this normal? Just after reading some things about these arriving and having to be sent back I’ve been paranoid lol
ivr only got 30 days to send em back to get checked out/replaced etc if anything’s up before it comes out of my pocket. More out of an abundance of caution

Have you tried new fuses? Negative- wasn’t even aware they had them as there’s no mention in the manual about fuses it’s not a loud pop- but the other one doesn’t do it, no matter the order of speaker shut off

OK...going back and forth after Sonarworks with both of them. The Amphions are more forgiving in the upper mids...and I hear more extended bottom with the sub...even though the BF's go really low. I get a punch with the sub that I miss with the BF's. The BF's might have a slightly better stereo image. But I'm maybe looking for differences. Listening to all the standard songs to compare...and listening to a mix I finished on the Footprints. I remember thinking in the car it was a little hot on the bottom/sub. And I completely hear that with the Amphions and sub...Not so much with the BF's. Also I thought it might be a little hot in the upper mids in my car and I also hear things I'd do differently in the mids on the Amphions. When I switch back to the BF's, things sound better in both areas. So - that's a little weird - me saying the BF's are hot in the upper mids, you would think there would be less mids in the mix...huh...no idea. So I dragged that mix into a PTs session to see the frequencies that I was hearing. I'm hearing sub 50Hz a lot better. I also was digging out a little 150Hz and could really hear tiny incremental moves making a big difference. Seems like the same for 2-4khz too. Think I'm gonna re-buy some Amphions lol. Thanks, past-me… I was having some gas for trying out the Barefoots again and this talked me out of it.
