I was offered a discount if i gave a review on one of Stam’s gear. Is this a common practice with other manufacturers? Is what other manufacturers do relevant? I know quite a few manufacturers that actually pay people full time to post positive things on their videos on youtube and favor them on any review, we unfortunately don't have the budget for it and even if we did, we wouldn't do it, the quality of what we do speaks for itself We do offer a little discount to incentive people to leave reviews or make videos on our gear as we are asking to stop their work and it can be time consuming, less than 5% of our customers leave online reviews and we pretty much rely on reviews to spread the word about our work. I have never (and I have probably many whiteness's on this forum) said "leave a positive review". People are free to post whatever they like and don't like about the unit and many times post about the slow delivery times, etc.. so it's not all positive. At this stage we have well over 100 5 star reviews online and dozens of videos, it all helps I am extremely proud of what we have done with audio and highly motivated to improve the service.

It shows potential customers that a product is real and people have tried it. The reviewer can write whatever they wish and I'm sure it's fine to disclose that you got a discount for your effort, although not really relevant as long as you are being honest about the product.

I think a number of people were offered the same discount offer. Up to them to take it up or not.
Certainly, there were no strings attached, so its your call to post or not ? .
I am just watching my budget carefully, post retirement, so passed on a review as I am unlikely to order anything so the incentive of the discount, while nice, doesn’t change my budget restraints.
Anyway, the discount/review offer was discussed somewhat on another thread here so no secrets or anything.

I'm debating about whether or not I should get one of these. I don't "need" one and I wasn't even considering one at the $3000 price but, with the 50% discount I was offered, I'm now considering it. I just don't know if I would use it enough to justify the use of money and rack space. I'm also not in love with replacing those tubes on a regular basis. I just need to figure out how much of this is simply because it's a Fairchild versus how much real world use I would actually get out of it. For those of you that have Fairchilds, how much use do you get out of them and are you using them more so in tracking or mixing? Did you or any one else use your 50% offer on this? If so, does that make the 50% off from the “old” stock price at the time of order or the current stock price (which is a $1k difference, apparently)? stam

stam, to clarify, I preordered when the stock price was $3k. Is that the price I’m locked into for my 50% discount offer?

The 50% discount would be off of whatever the stock price is at the time you pay your deposit. The current stock price is up to $3900 now.

True, but Stam also said, if end of September was really a problem for people for them to pm him directly to discuss?

If so, that would just be another example of Stam reneging on what they've promised. Like I said, I hope this is just an oversight. To be clear, you put down a deposit a while back before the current price hike, but are now being told that your 50% will be off of the new stock price of $3990?

Well, I would be thrilled if they honored the original agreement, Marcelo had even confirmed my prices at one point. But it sounded like the discount is off current stock price. I was offered an apology and an offer to change/cancel my order if I wasn't happy. Camila pretty much said they'd be losing money and they couldn't do it.

But, I get it. Sucks for them to lose money on a sale. 50% off the current stock price is right around their break even point. $2k is still a pretty great price, TBH.

Hey Guys,
50% discounts apply on stock pricing for all models at the time production is completed.
Some people have suggested we would raise the price but this is quite frankly absurd, we would lose many more sales and orders by increasing the stock price in exchange of losing a little less on the few that have ordered the StamChild
It costs me about 2k in parts to make one and about 5 days of work from start to finish plus 2 full days of burning and another day of QC. I would love it for you guys to come pass the office and see the amount of work we do on each
At 1950 we are doing all the work for free in an incredibly complex and expensive machine to make which takes a huge part of my resources.
We are happy to change your order to apply 50% on something else or refund you. We don't mind not making any money but losing on each sale makes absolute no sense to us as a business.
We also had the case were we dropped the FET 47 to 590 USD from 790 USD and people took it for 50% of the new price.
If the prices drops before it's ready we will charge half of that, I am always looking for ways to bulk order parts so we can decrease production cost

The FB pics would indicate 100’s of solders building each of theses units: hell of a lot of detailed work and looks very cool.

I just pre-ordered a Stamchild with my 50% discount. I was told that it wouldn't be until probably June of 2020 and was I sure I wanted to wait that long. I told them that at least I know up front the waiting time so I don't have to check all the time. 9 months I can't wait to hear that baby.
