Well, it was meant to be humorous, but then it's also half real.. Because.. A) Don't you get everything free? B) Both advertise on this site and they are becoming pretty well-known if not ubiquitous in studios. C) Don't you get everything free? A) No, nothing is free. If you figure out how to get that done, please let me know. B) then one would think I stand the chance of alienating one or he other, right? Well, tough shit. I will post honest opinions regardless of what any advertiser thinks. Their advertising isn’t paying my bills or buying influence. Although, I’m not a jerk, so I won’t absolutely pan something in a subjective business. You just won’t hear me talk about it. C) As of today, I haven’t received one single thing free.

Even IF a manufacturer were to HYPOTHETICALLY trade John a piece of gear or discount gear for advertising on this site, it would not be free. It would be a trade for something of value and none of our business. John wishes and dreams of this site having enough traffic that vendors just give him stuff! Again if someone were to give him gear for no charge or a discount in exchange for advertising that is not free they are excepting advertising advertising as something of value. Now for the fun part let’s say Hypothetically let’sI make a mic that lists at $2K,average real retail at $1K and wholesale for $600. I Hypothetically were to give John that mic for free, we’ll come tax time John would get a 1099 claiming he received a a hypothetical income from my company of the list price of $2K! Trust me even “ Free” ain’t really free, but than I’m the guy who if I was on the wheel of fortune would lose on purpose if I was going to win a prize other than cash because I know it’s valued at a price nobody ever paid and I’m going to pay at least 50% of that value in taxes!

Communication is an important issue as well. I emailed Chris with some questions about the Opto (I bought two and a 76a) and he got back to me promptly. I've been trying to get a pretty simple question answered by Josh for 5 days now and he hasn't responded. I emailed his company and the response I got conflicted with what Josh posted in a thread in this forum. I'm not sure what to make of that but it doesn't fill me with confidence and I'm starting to regret putting down payments on a couple of items this past week. Not a total defense of Stam’s way he does business but I did want to say - in the interest of fairness - Stam has a guy in California who handles his US repairs so there is no overseas shipping involved. Yep, just sent a Stam unit off for repair and communication has been clear and timely with the tech in Cali. GREAT to know!

Not sure why Audioscape would do a group buy considering he already sells direct.

And can’t possibly be making much margin on these units as it is.

Not sure why Audioscape would do a group buy considering he already sells direct. I was thinking the same thing. The big savings on a group buy comes by eliminating the middle man and in this case there's no middle man. If enough people wanted in, there's probably a little room for a better deal but it's not going to come close to the 30%-40% discount I'd expect from most group buys.

I have seen this beauty for a while and I think I pull the trigger next month. Will be a good addition to the STAM SA-76ADG. It is a pity that I live in Sweden this kind of times. Would be smooth if I lived in the United States and could get home the beauty smoothly and easily. Do we have someone working on Audioscape here on board?

I’m onboard 👍🏻. Onboard to group buy, but it's already a great price for what it is.

I will send him an email and ask some details. It's just me who whine a little over that you on the other side of the water have so good cats with the solder and make beautiful gears. It is always a little bit harder to order with the freight, the customs, the tax etc. Your solder cats have good prices, no middle hands and, for that matter, not penny the quality. Anyone who knows if there is any such cat in the EU with no middle hands, would make it a bit smoother

The "tubeetch" is definitely rarer and more boutique. You just don't see many of those.

We got one a few weeks ago (cl1-b). It sounds fantastic, but the knobs feel like the cheapest junk you could put in there. I can’t figure out why they couldn’t get a better feeling pot in there. If you look at it wrong it seems like the settings will go all wonky.
I used to think the Pendulum knobs were the touchiest things in the gear world. I was wrong - the TT beats it out by a long shot!

This box will fit perfectly in the empty space in my rack. I might be coming for it.
