I definitely have a problem,
With optical compressors
But thankfully,
Most of the cheap ones SUCK
This Audioscape one seems pretty well put together though.
I might separate some cash from my wallet to find out.

jtc111 has two of them. It seemed cleaner than a lot of the emulations with the same warmth when I got a chance to use it. It's on my list too.

I’m impressed with my ssl clone ( appearance, sound and build) and would buy his Octo with confidence

Mine just arrived this morning, so far this is exactly what I'm thinking too. I'm going to try it on a bunch of different sources next to my Stam SA2A today so we'll see how it goes

What I have from Chris Yetter is absolutely perf3ct. I’d have no hesitation buying anything else.
When I do buy his LA2a clone (and I will) I’ll compare to LA2a, the Stam SA2a and th CL1b.
I have no issues with either of those either.

Last time I was in Nashville we had a Bock 251 going through a Neve 1073(A nice sounding one may I add)into a CL1b and it was just perfectly balanced and seriously couldn't make it sound any better if we tried! We put up a Delphos after to try it out against the Bock in the same chain, and surprisingly it sounded great as well. It just didn't have the realism and wasn't as open in the top as the Bock, but it was still pretty darn good, and very useable. Pretty impressive for less than 1/5th the price though. BTW...another Audio-Scape lover here! IME...Audio-Scape is nothing but the good! If you are on here Chris, keep up the good work buddy!

I’d honestly take this over the Cl-1b

I’d honestly take this over the Cl-1b I'm finding out as I am using his Opto right now as well. John, can you describe how that Chandler Opto 500 sounds compared to the Audio-Scape Opto?

Just figured out what this reminds me of...a Tubetech CL-1B with a thicker imprint.
EDIT:
I was listening to littlesicily's massive compressor clip comparisons again from several years back on the purple site last night, and loving the CL1B on Vocals.
I'd love to see a good clone of a CL1B but don't know of any since the 2020 TubeTech CL1B price is a little steeper than my wallet would like. Which leads me to wonder if putting a Telefunken Tube in the V1 slot of the AS Opto (instead of a GE/RCA) takes it a little more sonically in the direction of a CL1B?

YES! To all those CLAMORING for a CL1B (which obviously for many moral and ethical reasons, will NOT happen) - we've found you can get SHOCKINGLY close to the box-tone of the CL1B by putting a good NOS Telefunken Smooth Black in V1 of the OPTO. It's INSANE sounding. ;-)

What are the moral and ethics problems with the Cl1b? Believe he means he won’t copy a contemporary design.
