I prefer the NYC "F-you" price of over quoting somebody by possibly 3x what you'd actually charge for the job. If you really want to use them, pay up. If not, go away. Usually sends the message clearly hahhaha People here think you want to “collaborate.” Like it’s some honor for you to get to write with them or work with them. No, I want to get paid.

Oh I know the game. I have family that have been writing in Nashville for over 30 years. I’ve spent time there and just didn’t fit in at all.

Probably going to have some time today to sit down and demo this. I've been using Ozone 8 exclusively here lately (well, at least the Maximizer and Dynamic EQ)...but there is STILL a part of me that thinks as far as loudness, IK Stealth still sounds bigger. I LOVE the mastering assistant with Ozone 8 - yeah, yeah, I'm sure some people will poo poo that - but it's usually only uses the EQ, Dynamic EQ and Maximizer...and it's been GREAT to have somewhere to start - especially the D-EQ. It identified some low mids that I just wasn't hearing and I think it has made a positive difference.

DAMNIT. So far, I've just tried the MM-1 Limiter...and it's a definitely improvement from Ozone. Somebody tell me I'm crazy.

First FabFilter, then Sonnox, then DMG, then Ozone. Now Weiss? Where will the madness stop? I feel like I need a limiter intervention!

OK...I still like IK Stealth better than the Ozone Maximizer and MM-1. There's something about the way it handles the transients and blooms the bottom end. It looks like a toy, but it sounds analog to me.

Wasn't smashing quite as much...still I think Stealth is the most natural sounding.

Got some mixing to do this weekend, so I'm going to delve more into the DS-1...but I hate using something I'm not sure I'm going to keep and then the client asking for a tweak 15 days later...and I realize I don't have the damn plugin anymore.

The joke's on them...they can't even see that I don't have $500... Ha you crack me up sometimes and I love it. Personally, my gut tells me this is like designer jeans. Guess was the name to have in my day, but Walmart Wranglers covered my ass just fine. And I still got laid.

There's an old thread from the purple place titled "Weiss DS1 : the 8,000$ plugin ?". It's an interesting read.

It was strictly for the ladies here circa ‘88.

I got the demo but havn’t Loaded it, that price, I don’t know ? I'm gonna demo it. Why not? I have two colored hardware compressors. Should be interesting to hear a clean compressor/limiter vs a colored compressor and a limiter like the L2 etc. BTW: Anybody know what is considered to be the cleanest compressor plugin that's at a standard plugin price?

I've been using DMG Limitless and it sounds nice and open but some of it has to do with the fact that it's seems a little hyped up top. These Weiss plugs sound nice and smooth but start distorting pretty quick. So...I'm playing with a demo of Stealth right now and I'm really digging it!! I use Ozone 8 also for all the cool things it does but that limiter distorts too. Stealth just sounds nice and clean with a little bump which never hurts : ) I'm gonna buy it.

TDR Kotelnikov GE or the Sonoris Mastering Compressor are the cleanest I've found.

As usual what are peole using limiters for increasing the overall volume? Since starting to mix through my delta I have been putting nothing on the 2 buss just so I can hear my actual mix better, maybe the point of the clean limiter question ?

Think of it this way: our ears tell us the louder source sounds better. This is why we have to level match to properly AB anything. Brickwall Limiting allows you to bring the overall mix level up, lowering dynamic range. It’s also ubiquitous in mastering these days, so it is worth seeing how you’re mix responds to heavy limiting. Also, speaking for myself, budgets are tight, I work mainly with gigging musicians or outright amateurs. I’ve become a decent ME out of necessity, although I try to get all my clients to hire someone else at this stage.

I feel like I shouldn’t like the Stealth as much as I do because of the GUI lol. But there is an openness and punch to the transients I don’t hear with the others.

T-Racks CS? Or as part of T-Racks 5? A few of the plugs that come in 5, like the meter, master match, and album assembly, look interesting.

Bought it separately. I haven’t really delved into the ik stuff that much. Probably should after this one. I have the 76 and 2A, but honestly never think about them. The 76 freaked me out because the headroom is completely different than I’m used to. And it didn’t dirty up like the UAD. Need to check out the white again though.

Man, this Weiss plug sounds so freakin’ elegant. I’m demoing it right now and really want to like other plugs more... but I’m probably gonna have to shell out the dough and get it. It handles the high, harsh frequncies better than any plugin I’ve tried. It sounds so much like Great mastering hardware. And the de-Esser and limiting/expanding opens up so many options. I’ve got plenty of limiters that get loud and do loud really well. But none that handle the audio as gracefully as this thing. Dang, I didn’t want to have to shell out the bucks for this, lol
