Hey Fellas - just a quick heads up. The Behringer Model D has landed here at my studio and I’m extremely impressed. I’ve spent a bit of time on the Moog Reissue and the sound of the Boog is leaving me every bit as satisfied. I do not have them back to back, but it sounds like a minimoog. The tactile experience is different of course but I’ll gladly adjust to a smaller layout. I know there are many Moog purists out there that accept nothing less than the originals, but I gotta say, this thing is pretty impressive!! Here's a link to a real quick synth bass I dialed in: Behringer Model D Synth Patch on SoundCloud

$300 vs $3,500 ... that's the kind of price ratio that I find HIGHLY INTERESTING... Really there is little question that I'll have one by now or later. Even though I already own a Moog Slim Phatty... there's room for something small and good here.

How many balls do you need? Asking for a friend... I need like, six. That's a good healthy amount of balls. I'll call up two of my stocky, muscular well mustachioed friends. Any more balls than that could prove to be dangerous, and under governmental restrictions...

This new Boog and synths like the Deepmind are kind of singlehandedly killing my desire for UAD to make plugin versions of synths. One more reason I need the Apollo less and less as days go by. The Two Notes kind of took care of needing amp sims for real time. Thunderbolt's low latency is making keys libraries possible in real time. There's not a whole lot left that I can see needing realtime UAD for anymore at this point. Which brings up an interesting point. Greater plugin quality over time has in some ways pushed the price point down for good quality affordable analog gear, which in turn is beginning to supplant the need to purchase those plugins. Why would someone buy a $300 UAD Moog plugin when they can buy an all analog Moog clone for $300?

A fun google search... How many testicles does Lance Armstrong have? 3 Answers Phil Calvin Phil Calvin, I'm interested in nearly everything. For a while. Answered May 30 2011 He has one. In fact he jokes about it, referring to himself as Juan Pelota. If you say that out loud, it sounds a bit like One Pelota and "pelota" is spanish for "ball". He has naturally fathered children since having the first testicle removed. So the remaining one still works.

Being able to hear the track w plugin settings in real-time to get the sound where I like it is pretty sweet - Affects the performance in a nice way. And then the option to record it with or without. Maximum flexibility. That’s how this was recorded. But yeah, a killer all analog synth for $299 causes one to rethink paying for minimoog plugins.

I agree with you on it being nice to hear a "final" sound by using the UAD plugins inline as you're tracking. Hearing that "final" sound definitely has an impact on the performance aspect. I was just saying that there are more and more hardware (analog AND digital hardware) options out there now that provide that same capability without having to use any UAD (or non-UAD) plugins at all (or be tied to a dsp ecosystem), and at similar price points as those UAD plugins. Additionally, if one needs to use plugins or sample libraries, TB latency has now made it much more possible to do that as well, also without relying on Apollo realtime.

Nice phat sound.
I am not a synth expert but I like the Moog sound.
For my needs Native Instruments Monark is enough.
I would like to know how close Monark is. May you like to post a picture of the settings?

Curse you darren..... Just kidding.... This has spawned a whole new season of keyboard (synth) gear-lust for me. I honestly thought I was all past that phase of keyboard mania. So....first the Model D....then I was thinking about the DeepMind....then now I'm thinking hard about the DaveSmith stuff....Aaaaargh!!! The Prophet 5 and Jupiter 6 and Super Jupiter are limited to studio use only now - I'm not pulling them out and dragging them around anymore. I'm going to get the Model D for the studio as well, but thinking about a versatile, great sounding poly for a few gigs I do..... <<...sigh...>>

May you like to post a picture of the settings? Here ya go Short answer to my question is. Monark sounds somewhat like a Moog but fails in three parts of it. 1. Low End is there but not as defined. 2. Attack.... fast played notes always have a nsaty attack on top of it.... (my cat left the studio!!!) 3. Fumbeling the knobs is as always with plugs unintuitive... To sum it up: MÖÖP Need to buy this thing....

I’ve used several good moogish virtual synths, but there’s nothing like hardware And it’s a lot more fun. It’s pretty amazing to get hardware that sounds like this at such a low price point
