I don't think the Reface is quite on par with Keyscape for electric piano. Doesn't quite have the minute nuance stuff. But it (Reface) sounds awesome and probably better than anything I've heard that isn't Keyscape. And yeah, external device, no latency/CPU/buffer stuff to worry about. What a cool offering. And for live? Hell yeah. Amazing. That organ sounds a lot better than the Nords everyone plays (which totally get the job done already). Even if Keyscape still sounds slightly better, there still is the appeal of not having to do computer shit. I also just got done reading the manual and you CAN in fact use a larger midi keyboard to control the Reface, essentially using the Reface as a sound module. I already have an Akai MPK261, so that would be easy to set up. That's pretty cool. So you could use a larger keyboard with the Reface in the studio and then just use the Reface by itself in a live scenario if you felt that you could get by with a smaller keybed in that setting. I just hate futzing around with the computer to get sounds. The Iridium and Two Notes stuff really kind of pushed me back towards using physical boxes to get sounds outside of the computer rather than worrying about latency and all of that stuff. Just twist a few knobs and go. The Reface has me interested. Yeah, totally. I just got a new machine and one of the main benefits for me is being able to keep things at low buffer and have multiple VIs ready to play/record. But I totally agree, mucking around with it (when you don't have the CPU horsepower and need to constantly manage buffers and things) is a huge buzzkill and the Reface looks like a really cool option.

Too bad they don't sell the Refaces as a standalone sound module, without the keyboard. For that matter, I wonder what other sound modules are out there that have high sound quality and do the same sort of thing? I've never really looked into it. I was just kind of resigned to either recording real instruments (but I don't have all of the real ones I want) or using VIs. Maybe we're going to enter a period where we finally have standalone keyboard sound modules that have high quality sound at an affordable price, much like what has happened with hardware amp sims for guitars? Maybe we're already there and I just wasn't aware?

Can you use Reface as a midi controller? Yes. See the screenshots from the manual. The Reface can send AND receive midi.

I have the YC. I love it! Works great with a larger board controlling it if you really want to dig in. The other organ sounds are fantastic and it's really fun to play. Can you elaborate when you say "larger board controlling it"? Like just using it as a module. The keys are tiny, and if I’m really trying to dig in, a larger keyboard helps. Of course I still have the yc up on the midi controller so I can use all the draw bars, but the feel of bigger keys really helps. Plus you get more octaves to work with at once!

Can you play both (the Reface AND the other one) keyboards at once? If so, you could kind of mimic the upper and lower registers in a Hammond.

Hmm I guess you could....as long as you stay in different octaves.

Hmm I guess you could....as long as you stay in different octaves. It says it has 128 note polyphony. Does that still mean it can't do two of the same notes at once?
