There are so many vintage drum shops and dealers in Nashville the deals are gone, so I've decided to let go of all the vintage drum parts I've held on to over the years. Probably about $1500 worth of lugs and tension rods and other random bits. I think I have someone interested in buying the whole lot, which I think I'll use the money to buy a Hiwatt SA20 Custom head a friend has for sale. Probably will sell my Orange Rocker 30 combo after getting that. Maybe my Goodsell Super 17 as well. I just have too many drums and amps for someone who records acoustic music! Same here! I almost bought an AC15 a couple days ago, and then thought about the fact that since I do almost exclusively acoustic guitar based music and the only electric guitar sound I ever use is a Strat directly into a classic clean Fender amp which I own 3 of, I really didn't need another amp. But man it sounded good! I have the AC30. I had a fender hot rod deluxe that I retubed (nos) and sounded fantastic including a wonderful reverb. If I had to do it over again, I would keep the fender hot rod deluxe with the tube upgrade.

But man it sounded good! The Hiwatt, for me, is the sound of my favorite 70’s rock records. So, selfishly, when I get my act together and make my own record, it’s the sound I want. Just, quiet and not a DR103 through a 4x12 😂 SO MANY great records were made with those. It's kind of strange that they're not that popular. Everybody's is playing or building a variation of Marshall plexi to get that 70s rock vibe when a ton of those records weren't even recorded with Plexis. Not that the more nasal Marshall tone isn't interesting but I often find that, at least for modern productions, the Marshall sounds better when paired with another amp with a cleaner distorted sound whereas the DR103 gets you there right away and is way more versatile.

I've played more Hot Rod Deluxes live than I can remember and I always found the clean sound a bit odd, at least paired with my playing but I've never heard one with a tube upgrade I don't think.

Thank you for mentioning this. If the goal is "clean" - I like the AC30 more for that than the Hot Rod Deluxe even with the tube upgrade on the Hot Rod Deluxe.

Sold off a Lawson L47MP. Little too crispy for me. But I did record vocals for a song called "Solid Gold" with it, which felt appropriate.

Sounded really quite modern and not really too 47ish, which can be a good thing for most modern music but not for what I do.

Let someone talk me out of a rack of McCurdy octal tube preamps; was never likely to get around to restoring them anyway.

BAE single channel 1073mpf. Besides wanting everything in stereo these days I just didn't use it much anymore and most studios I work at have them if I need that flavor.

My best white USA stratocaster, and uh, a cool Fuzz Face based circuit I came up with for stratboy it wasn't mine in the first place but it was really fun to play Thank God (? ? ; >) I don't do as much buying, selling, selling, buying/selling, sell buy, buy and selling, as I used to, got tired of that activity.

Me too. As we know, the various and sundry selling sites, were usually better for the Seller... Years ago too. Chris

API 529, didn't love it. Replaced it with a Serpent SB4001.. Genelec 8341's have gone back now. Nothing wrong with them but also nothing extraordinary for the price either. Retro 176 (demo loan), it's a fine enough compressor but I'm a 2A nutball so I won't be buying it. Ordered the Acme Opticom to test out..
