....and the Universal Audio 1016 tube preamp is gone..... It's hard to like this, Doug . . . I feel sorry for your loss. No big deal, looks like I still have 34 types of tube preamps. Don't believe the UA hype, it's just another preamp.

I am looking for a reason to justify having "sexy racks" full of cool expensive gear. Isn't being sexy justification enough?

It's like people are ashamed to participate..... Nah, forgot it existed.. Apollo X is now out the window, sold every Neumann but the U67 (89's, 47Fet, M149, U87). Then I spent two days last weekend clearing out old boxes, cables and accessories like Roland USB midi converters. Most of my Dynamics are next on the chopping block, I'll keep the MD441's and couple of "funken's" the rest 57 / 58 / Audix / Beyer and other Senny's are going, going, gone. Got some ISK SDC's, they're very good but that's followed with the dreaded (for the price).. So they're going as well.

It's like people are ashamed to participate..... Currently in the middle of a gear purge. Parted sold off a good bit of my modular to get it back to something more reasonable, sold an AS 76A, AT 4047SV, SSL Fusion, Heritage Successor, Korg Odyssey, SE Boomstar, and trying to sell one of my WT-72 pres if anyone will ever buy it and getting ready to sell off a Speck Xtramix that just came back from refurbishment.

Never mind mixing the HW alone is a staple tracking chain. I fell into the trap of buying stuff just because it was what I was “supposed” to have. I wasn’t using them. Some of y’all will. So I am selling the things I am not using and buying or paying for things that I will use. I use guitars, good microphones, and people who know what the fuck they are doing.

BOTH of my 2" machines have left the building. *The Studer 1/4" stays. I very much want to "like" this, Tony, but to be clear, the part I "like" is the Studer 1/4" staying. The long and the short of it is that the machines just weren't being used. For years there were sources for good used tape, and you could add a few hundred to your budget and use the 24-track. That has really dried up. The last couple of projects that wanted to use the machine bought (and had to deal with returns and refunds) because the tape was sticky and useless. New tape is going to add a grand or more to the budget. Compare that to that's TWENTY HOURS that are more often better spent on time getting things right at various stages of the production. Plus, EVERYONE wants all the things a DAW can do, even when you're working in a non DAW environment. They all want notes moved, or tuned. They all want to revist a mix even after signing off. That's all time and all money. And, honestly, I've really grown to enjoy all the things a DAW offers. What I'd probably enjoy most is RADAR Studio, but that's huge money, switching to windows, AND I don't really trust the company the was I did in the old days. I loved my RADAR24, and would dig that new environment.

As reported elsewhere, I said goodbye to a Gibson ES-335 after a very short stay Also got rid of an excess MIDI controller and a few little-used mics (AEA and DPA button) Also an EPI Les Paul (great instrument, but just not physically comfortable for me) And the saddest thing of all, completely irrelevant to this group, my Obsession 15" reflecting telescope. Back just isn't up to it any more.

There are so many vintage drum shops and dealers in Nashville the deals are gone, so I've decided to let go of all the vintage drum parts I've held on to over the years. Probably about $1500 worth of lugs and tension rods and other random bits. I think I have someone interested in buying the whole lot, which I think I'll use the money to buy a Hiwatt SA20 Custom head a friend has for sale. Probably will sell my Orange Rocker 30 combo after getting that. Maybe my Goodsell Super 17 as well. I just have too many drums and amps for someone who records acoustic music!

I almost bought an AC15 a couple days ago, and then thought about the fact that since I do almost exclusively acoustic guitar based music and the only electric guitar sound I ever use is a Strat directly into a classic clean Fender amp which I own 3 of, I really didn't need another amp. But man it sounded good!

But man it sounded good! The Hiwatt, for me, is the sound of my favorite 70’s rock records. So, selfishly, when I get my act together and make my own record, it’s the sound I want. Just, quiet and not a DR103 through a 4x12 😂
