Stam says on Facebook that he's using the original circuit, negative feedback and all. I might have to bite the bullet and do the waiting... Oh Jesus... I am going to have to get it for that price then. I was going to build one with the same parts he is using basically, but I can't even do that for under a grand!!! If it even gets me in the territory, and more importantly sounds good - for that coin I will be very satisfied. I'm getting my wallet out now. I just sold my Peluso p67 because its circuit was not much of a u67 - sounded good in some cases but I didn't feel it was worth the $2000. $990 though for a clone? Done.

Part of me is wanting to take a shot. I mean, if it's as good as my MKU67 but without the darkness that I have to EQ out anyways, I could sell the maxmod and pocket 1500 or so. It's a lot of if's, though. Plus, I'd be willing to bet this won't be actually shipping for the better part of a year.

Hopefully the price doesn't shoot up $500 in 6 months too.

Without a direct comparison to a real one it's hard to say how it stands. This guy also has a shrill kind of voice which means I can't tell how the low end of the mic is. I'd love to hear the SA-67 next to a a real unaltered U67 on a few sources.
I'm getting in front of some nice vintage mics later this week, including an unaltered U67. Going to hear it next to my MK U67. I'm very curious about it.

I guess Oliver Archut was that guy, RIP. Nope, Oliver did some nice TX's but they aren't near the originals. I have tried all the capsule and TX options. Neumann still does it better then anyone else. Peulso does get really close with his designs. They are repeatable and have a good amount of that cool vibe of the vintage units while also being balanced. He nails it with his vintage reskins of originals backplates. So does a guy named Doug Walker. I have a drawer filled with both capsules and transformers. Most of them are a disappointment compared to the originals. Sad reality.

Interesting dandeurloo. Oliver was the only guy I knew of who was a living Neumann reference, but I've never compared the way you did. But his BV8 sounded better than the even more expensive Haufe to me.

So, the MK U67 was a bit darker than the real U67, but also beefier in the low mids. It wasn't as noticeable on the operatic take, but was more so noticeable on the crooning take. The U67 seemed to have this very sweet top end that was missing from the MKU67, but didn't have the low end reach of the MK U67. More once I've had a chance to step away and come back to it. It's still very fresh.

Which is why I wish they would just make a damn u67. I bet they could get close enough to satisfy many of us and drive down the vintage u67 costs. Oh well. TLM67 is all we get... Not surprised by your assessment, though. I have been making pickups for years trying dozens of foundries magnets and even having them reverse engineered. All the wire I can get my hands on. You can only get so close this day and age.

Max's BV12 certainly has the low mid thing going on . Ive compared it to the original as well and found the same thing with the top end . great on guitar amps though .

They could, but Neumann is not set up for small runs of handmade products anymore, a run of any of the classics isn't going to come close to the numbers of any of Neumann's current production. The other thing is I got the feeling that the 47fet reissue was a test of how Classic Neumann reissues might sell, they did OK, but didn't go as fast as they wanted, granted it is the least desirable of the classics but they knew they could nail it. Neumann is more interested in there current line than their past, plus they know unless they absolutely nail it, the public won't be happy. The general inconsistency of K87's and the fact the original M7 diaphragm material is unubtainable might also be a factor in their hesitation. They also might know something about what's needed to get the Transformers right and why they might not be able to get there.

On a side note, I will say that my favorite surprise of last night was the M269C. Much brighter than the U67 or M49C for that matter, it had a beautiful beefiness in the lows that was really magical. The beefiness was similar to the MK U67, but with a top end more like a U87. I've been saying it for a while, but I really want to hear my wife on one of these....or maybe I shouldn't.

So, has anyone tested the Bock 67? Is IT the end of the year surprise that JohnKenn mentioned months ago?
Neumann should still be able to come out with another reissue as they did in the 90's. I remember David Bock saying that only the transformer needed tweaking but other than that they nailed it. They also got the 47Fet correctly also. Love mine.
Based on what you guys are describing, the MK (and any other "clone" for that matter) is missing the "top" which is so important and does become part of the WHOLE.

For what it’s worth, the mk67 was way closer to the real deal than any 47 clone I’ve ever heard.
Still needed some work, but it was really quite nice.

I too thought the MK 67 was legit. To me, it was like a U87 on steroids. Not quite as big and open as a vintage U67, but most definitely a Neumann, and better than any Neumannesque mic I've heard yet.
I'm really looking forward to trying the Warm 47, but have even higher hopes for the Stam 47 and 67.

I don't think the MK U67 is bad by any stretch, but it wasn't quite the U67. I'm actually very curious about hearing Stam's SA-67. The samples I've heard of the SA-87 and SA-47 sound right in the zone. I don't plan on selling my U87ai, but I could always sell the kit and pick up the Stam's 67. I want to hear more. stam?

Keep in mind too that old U67s are at least a little bit of a moving target, sonically. More than a few people with both have said the MK67 is right there. Some of the clips on GS of the MK67 and original U67s are very close.
I got no skin in the game. I like my MK67 a lot, maybe more than an original, who knows. I’m never gonna own one and all the studios I’ve worked in that had U67s were always me on the performer side of the glass, and it was before I paid all that much attention to those things.
Just pointing out that impressions from one comparison don’t tell the whole story.

I knew I should not have read this thread, now I had to put money down on a Stam SA-67. Friggin' feedback circuit and that HK67 capsule.

That's the thing most clones are close, it's that last bit that costs the big bucks! Add in that a mic Capsule is an electromechanical device and the Services of a mic whisper like Shannon becomes more and more valuable! Would love to hear a MK 67 that Shannonhad tweaked!

Although it's the capsule of the MK67 that's the most "authentic" part of it, being the actual Neumann. Yeah but 2 very big things to remember 1 they literally don't make them like they use to, Neumann has automated the production as much as possible! 2 while in most cases an automated production line is more consistent, in this case it seams those old German ladies were better at compensating for the imperfections in diaphragm material. Per Klaus and my own experience the 87/67 Capsules while still the best examples are not as consistent as in the old days! I will add my favorite flavor of 67 is Shannon's take on it in the Korby KAT, as much as dealing with Tracy has always been like a colonoscopy, since meeting Shannon I have considered buying a used KAT and using DR Shannon to keep it up and running!
