Don't think it's been mentioned in this thread but Exponential Audio reverbs are on sale until Dec. 21. Really impressed with the way these sound and definitely worth checking out. These are from the old Lexicon dude right? Do any dealers sell these or are they direct? What other verbs do you use?

I believe you're right about the guy being from Lexicon. Pretty sure he only sells direct as I haven't seen them turn up in the usual spots. I could easily be wrong though. Other verbs that I use on a regular basis are UAD Lexicon 224, all the Valhalla verbs, and the Lexicon PCM bundle. Seems like I rarely use the Lexicon plugs as they seems cumbersome to me even though they sound nice. For context, I mainly work with electronic based/pop type music so I'm not always after pristine spaces with acoustic instruments. The Elemental Audio R2 verb is easily my favorite even though it could be be "new toy" syndrome. I dropped it in place of a Lexicon Random Hall in a and it seemed to "fit" better with much less effort. There's a 21 day demo on these.

Thanks for the insightful post man. How do they compare to the ValhallaRoom and ValhallaVintageVerb? Are they beyond what these can accomplish?

These are excellent reverbs imo. Working on a mix right now that only uses R2 and Phoenix. They sound great with Soundtoys Radiator or Devil Loc deluxe placed after them, blended in to taste.

I'm getting way off topic here, but is this the only verb currently aax64? The Valhalla's aren't yet, but are rumored to be coming go soon. Lexicon isn't. Relab isn't.
...Looks like the IK CSR are aax64. Any others?

Hard to say since I haven't lived with 'em long enough to figure out all the pros/cons against Valhalla. Sean's stuff sounds so good and is so affordable having them as an option is a no brainer. Out of Room and Vintage Verb I've been pulling up Vintage Verb more often and using it for smaller spaces such as percussion, snares, and quick sounds. Love being able to quickly audition the various "vintage" flavors after I've tweaked it. I never seem to get EXACTLY what I want from them on a vocal even tough I would suspect most accomplished mixers would have no issues. What sold me immediately on R2 was the ease at which I dropped it in place and was able to instantly get it to fit without being overwhelming and washing things out. I always struggle to get reverb to sit in a "subtle but present" manner and this one seemed to do the trick wihtout much fuss. Better than Valhalla? I'd say it's just another flavor leaning more towards Lexicon. I can say without a doubt I find the interface easy to work with. I was happy to see when they went on sale as my demo period was winding down.

Thanks for the insightful post man. How do they compare to the ValhallaRoom and ValhallaVintageVerb? Are they beyond what these can accomplish? The Valhalla verbs are very different sounding than the Exponential verbs. For instance I don't think you can get the same type of close ambience that the "300 Very small ambience" preset from VVV , with R2 or Phoenixverb. And it would be really hard to match the sounds in Phoenix with VVV.

henge do you find R2 Closer to VVV. I have VVV. Maybe looking at getting Phoenix/R2/LX480. Do like VVV, sometimes sruggling to get a vocal to sit with it.

Phoenix Verb = incredibly natural sounding rooms. Great if that's what you want. Buy the ReLab 480XL, forget the cost, you'll think Bricasti's cousin came to visit, and you really won't need much else anymore, exept maybe an EMT-140 for the color.
Well, it's almost Christmas, and Santa got an early start. I got Slate's VBC, and I haven't installed them yet, but couldn't resist AOM's Invisible Limiter, (1 year license, $30), and AOL Stereo Widener, (1 year license, $17), The Kush Clariphonic, and the Elysia MusEQ, so I'll see how the Elysia works out first before getting the UAD Pultec.
I have until Thursday ay midnight to use a $50 UAD coupon I have, so I don't know if I'll want the new Pultec's, with all the firepower I just got. I would only have to add $50 to get it, or just use the coupon on something that costs $50

Wish Could re-demo the Relab verb. Demo'd it a while ago and I loved it. Cost was just a bit high.
Looking for a verb for Vocal duties
Gonna demo the exponential stuff tonight
R2 is the same price as the relab

Pretty great deals on both. Hey John, do you think you could grab all the verb posts beyond the first exponential and toss them in a new thread called reverb? Would that make sense?

VVV is closer to R2 than Phoenix only because of the modulation of R2. After that they aren't similar sonically at all. Imo if you got Phoenix/R2/LX480 you wouldn't need another verb EVER!! LOL All bases covered.By the way Sean Costello is coming out with more algos for VVV soon. That's one of the things about VVV, it does PCM 60/70, 224, 224xl, 300, 480 and EMT 250!! And soon it will do more. Unbelievable value. Yesterday I used Phoenixverb as a lead vox widener. Tiny invisible wide clear space!!

I just listened a little back and forth between LX480, Lex PCM bundle and Phoenix/R2 (demo). I really liked the Lex bundle. Because Lex isn't hyped much nowadays my expectations weren't that high, so that was a nice surprise. Felt no immediate urge to get the Phoenix/R2, but need to test more of course.

Yikes, $299 for the ReLab? I paid $399 or $499, I forget.. If you do go there, you won't need another vocal reverb ever. At that price, it really is a steal.

Someone asked for aax64 plugs, well, i just saw Overloud Breverb2 is available as AAX64. Also on sale at the moment... I just played around with it a bit, because i got the 4 essential of it's algos for free with Sonar. I was pretty surprised how good it is. Maybe not everyones cup of tea, and not really a lexicon clone, but, i really like this one.

Yeah - I think EQ is over rated...One good one like Pro Q is good enough... I like a variety of eq options personally. I like set curves. I like how some can add bite and others are silky. Sometimes pro-Q is a better option for finding what I looking for. Yeah - a Pultec on AG's and 1073 on snare is pretty hard to beat. I rarely find myself using the Massive Passive though. Lately, I've been using the Hi shelf on the Ampex tape plug for a little EQing on the master.

Hahaha! It's no affair of love or hate. When i learned mixing (live)... i just learned it is an essential effect. "If you have only one effects unit - it has to be a reverb. Put it in the effects bus. Period." Don't think about if you love or hate it, just use it. LOL. ;-) Which one you prefer is a matter of taste. I know some live engineers that are near to puke when they see an SPX900 at the venue, because they can't stand it's sound anymore. Others still put in on everything. Lexicon or Quantec (EDIT: or TC of course...)? Matter of personal taste.

Kcat uses ReLab's XL480, and he's a Pro Tools guy, I think he runs PT11, but I'm not sure. He loves the ReLab by the way. If I had to say what is the one plug in that did the most for my sound, I'd have to say the ReLab. After that, UAD's Ampex ATR-102. I could everything with those two plugs alone if I had to.
