Telefunken m80 or one of that line. I don't know, do they make one without the writing all over the band on the grill?

I guess I stand corrected. Those look to be pretty exact copies of the body style.. I wonder if T-funken uses Alctron to supply them.. I know they have used Alctron mics for some of their other series.. recordinghacks.com/articles/telefunken-m16-and-apex-460-comparison/But in any case, I doubt Greenday is using some off-brand mic. My belief still stands.. M80 or M81.

Yeah, Alctron is the supplier for all their 'cheaper' mics $30 mic - that's proper punk. Don't feel so bad about preferring my ECM 8000 on acoustic guitar over my Red 5 (chinese tube) /SM57 / NT1A now! Bit noisy but hey ho ...

Yeah, Alctron is the supplier for all their 'cheaper' mics I bought a PM-05 for less than 50$.. We'll see how close it is to my M80 once and for all.

You seem to know a lot about it.. Care to elaborate on your knowledge? Seems this hit a nerve... Eh? I don't know why you'd think that. I'm actually asking how you seem to know so much about an obscure mic. Are you involved with telefunken or Alctron?

Anytime someone asks for justification, it's usually confrontational... No need for insider knowledge to see these mics are related Any major differences, you'll have to tell us by opening them up. But thinking about it honestly, what else do people expect to find in a $249 product from a company that sells +$10K mics? It's always going to be dead-stock components sourced overseas, with close to no labour involved in the assembly. Capsule > transformer > xlr and it's done, maybe 6 wires to solder in total.

Clearly, you guys aren't all too familiar with the T-Funk M80 series of microphones. That's ok, please consider my findings, having been an owner since they first came on the market.
M80 - direct replacement for any 57 or 58. CLARITY. Holy Crap!! Unbelievable. Could be thought of as a hand-held U67 with a presence lift. Amazing on snare. Clears up all nasal honkiness on vocals for any singer. Just magnificent.
M81. As above, without the presence lift.
M82. You have to hear this thing to believe it. The built in EQ is perfect for kick drum and voice-over alike. It can take a REAL pounding and still come out smiling.
I own these, I use these, I would only by more of them in time... they have become essential to me.
