Got it. Nope, can't be done without latency Avid hardware/ HDX can defintely do this, in fact it's still one of the few selling points for that type of system. Software based solution, maybe this can help you ( I hope so) On my Apollo, I would have the bands inputs coming into console app And use it for gain staging low latency monitoring (w/ or w/o plugs) muting corresponding pro tools tracks. Then setup Tracks in PT to accept the send output ( aux return )(aux 1/2) from Console app. On the two auxes in console app I can have distressor style, and on the other aux I can have a transient designer and use the aux send to perform parallels, which will then print the corresponding PT track. So input 5 in snare top and input 6 is snare bottom, use the aux sends on each to track to Aux 1 ( distressor ) & Aux 2 ( TD). Setup 4 mono tracks in PT labeled then set pt inputs accordingly.( input 5 ST, input 6 SB, aux 1 Dist, aux 2 TD ) Adjust your send levels to taste for required parallel smashing and record To save additional outputs a hear back system can be incorporated for headphone mixes. I can route any input to any output as well. Console app has what they call virtual I/o, which can send tracks from PT into console app for low latency plugs recording or monitoring! Cause you're using both Aux's for treatment of snare only.

I'm talking about monitoring the four snares, and a full band in real time, which I believe Vance is doing. I can't do what you suggested in real time Cubase or Pro Tools , monitoring the four snare channels and the rest of the drum kit and the room mics and the rest of the band without latency. All this can be done at mix, but without a console I don't know how you can do it in real time. Got it. Nope, can't be done without latency With a thunderbolt interface you're looking at sub-2ms latency, which would be undetectable. Am I not factoring something else in here?

Cause you're using both Aux's for treatment of snare only. If you follow the thread I was specifically helping a routing workflow for the snare processing. You could send your kick to both auxes as well if you want distressor an td fx like the snare. I may have missed the kick drum part you are speaking of, however I could mult the kick drum in PT ( kick top is input 1, setup two tracks in PT to receive input one and label Ktop and K T1176, then put whatever 1176 plug want and blend/adjust parallels to taste while drummer practice. PT is muted, band / drummer won't hear any latency from a parallel smashed PT track anyway cause the Apollo Console app is doing the monitoring PT is muted.) Also, with console app any input can be routed to any output and in PT with the flex routing and driver update I also have cue outputs and HP outputs I could use for additional parallel processing.
