So, I took the plunge and ordered the new Warm Audio wa-2a. I honestly think the UA la2 is one of my favourite plug ins, so I am very curious.
I have a diy C12 and MK-U47 , dizengoff audio D4 pres and the Warm Audio WA76, so am looking forward to putting the WA-2a through its paces.
Be happy to send some clips through it, if anybody wants to dropbox me a wav file.

Fair enough, but I think I/we all need to read between the lines of any review ? I have followed the development/release of the wa 2a and been curious as the price point is a little higher but I believed the parts build quality was also reciprocally so, so I am hopeful about its sonic characteristics. Personal reviews I have read have been uniformly positive but I had not read a direct comparison to an original la2a. As you may know, the wa2a design has a spare socket so you can install the original NOS tube, if you choose to buy one. I have been buying nos tubes for my mikes so I liked this as a feature as the closest I have come to a vintage la2a is the ua plug in Anyway looking forward to having the wa-2a in the signal chain while tracking !

No , I bought the pdf review from last month for a buck on the sos site. I would share it but then Paul would come over and pour english tea all over my wa-2a

Please do Ragan, should be here this week. If you want to send raw and tell me the settings for the wa76 and wa 2a I can do that or what ever you like ? Could always skype and do it real time but we'd have to plan getting the beer first

I've only just started reading SOS. I do think they're a enthusiastic, which might skew reviews a little, but they get into all the details I'm interested in, so it's OK.
The review of the new Focusrite interface walked the line well I thought. The thing's on the cover, and yet the review took care to mention 3 or 4 things they really felt prevented it from being the world class device they say it is. Maybe they can't bite the hand that feeds, but they sure took some nibbles out of that one.
Can't wait to hear some tracking kcat! Congratulations. I feel like a good vocal compressor to print with has been a missing ingredient in my system for a long time.

It might be time for Universal Audio to put out a dual comp/limiter but instead of two LA2As or two 1176s, have one side be an LA2a and the other be a Rev F 1176 or bluestripe.
Or maybe someone else should do this... because those two in combination are killer as vocal compression goes.

the very positive SOS review kind of sold me as I had been thinking about it Show me a negative SOS review of something and I might put stock into it. That's not true. SOS has run critical reviews in the past. Such as that new Presonus Studio 192 audio interface which has got flawless reviews from everyone else. SOS were first to touch up on usage issues with it. Their editorial team has on record said if a product is complete shit they won't bother with a review. They generally only review products which they find interesting. So they are not trying to review all the gear that's out there, it's selective, which is why you seem to think they biased. Over the many years probably their only controversial review opinion was the TLM103. It happens to all of us. Which is a great track record. In my experience SOS are no better or worse than Tape Op or Resolution when it comes to being enthusiastic in their reviews about gear. But I think they are generally quite balanced in their writing.
