What are accidental Oktavas? “Ooops! Somehow my finger just brushed against the ‘Purchase Now’ button!” I've not done that, but I have purchased things twice a couple of times recently.

My constant shuffling of speakers to use at home continues. The best luck I had was a pair of KH80’s, but they were just a little lacking in bass (obviously) and a subwoofer just didn’t work in that space. So, I grabbed some KH150’s, but they are honestly too big for how close I have to sit. So, a pair of the new KH120 II’s came up for sale at a great price locally and hopefully these will be the ticket. As much as I enjoy my Audeze headphones it would be nice to be able to listen at a low volume on speakers sometimes…especially since my new car has the worst stereo I’ve ever owned

Got the pair of accidental Oktavas in the deliveries today, after being trapped in DHL purgatory for a week. Not exactly as advertised! The seller and I are gonna have words How different are they? One came with sheet metal SCREWS holding the OG mic clip on to the preamp body, two capsules which and badly bent and thus do not fit and missing the pad attachment. The other one was rotten but worked fine. Luckily I have a couple others. The bent capsules work on another preamp, and sound fine, and other non-bent capsules work on this one. Ugh, such is life. I guess I shouldn't let it bother me.

Ach, hope the seller resolved this to your satisfaction.

I picked up four Line Audio Omni1 microphones to use as "ceiling room mics" in two areas of the studio.
On eBay an AKG C460B with an A60 ring adapter and CK1 capsule came up for auction and I got it cheap. I have a 451EB body that can use the CK1, and with the ring adapter I can use my extra CK22 omni capsule with the 460 body. Sweet! Although I now have way too many 451/460/480's around so I'll probably sell off a couple...they are great microphones to pass along to friends because they are cheap and in the case of the 460's, not too bright.
Also a broken Tapco 4400 spring reverb for $50. I’ve fixed up enough of these that I feel like I can repair it, and do the slide potentiometer upgrade to them. Once cleaned up these are great spring reverbs
Finally, a pair of AKG K701’s headphones for the studio. These are very cheap from Thomann, $150 new including shipping. I wanted to have an open back option for fiddle players and singers to see if it helps with pitch, and a decent pair of headphones people can listen to mixes on in the control room with my Little Labs Monotor.

I picked up a CMV 563 with an M7 capsule for a great price! Looking forward trying it out. Was quite a bit under market value so hopefully it is as good as I hope it to be! A friend of mine who has every mic you can imagine says it's his favourite

Congratulations, that is still one of the most visually stunning mics ever made, never had a chance to plug one in.

Congratulations, that is still one of the most visually stunning mics ever made, never had a chance to plug one in. Pictures don't do it justice - it's physically (and sonically) massive in real life! I've wanted one for a while and it popped up on reverb from a small brick and mortar music store so I called them up and negotiated (what I consider to be) a pretty damn good price for a German tube mic. It was on consignment and apparently the original owner was an older lady who either never used it or barely used it. There are still deals out there!

Just tried it out briefly. Very velvety sound and thick, in a nice way! Sounded very nice with my Neve 1272

Got an Elektron Analog four mk2, but sent it back for a wiggly volume pot. I'm going dawless fot the time being, need very elaborate hardware sequencers. Also got a Twisted Electron Blast Beat, dirty digital sounds, will sequence it via Elektron boxes.
Building furniture to house all the new synths. I hear my tinnitus when I put the sound isolation headphone, it's so oppressing.
I have an appointment tomorrow, to see a specialist. I used to hear up to 21 Khz, but that was ten years ago. Now I hear 6k sustained day & night, left and right.
I read american universities found the begining of a cure. You better do something, USA !

There are cures being developed in France too, it appears. Deaf children made to hear again... Crazy times. And all that without AI . Noice. But so for the time being, I won't comment on 6k and 7k. And I now have an excuse for my grumpy nature.

I'll send you a PM in two weeks if I see an evolution following the treatment (drugs, yes). The guy is an expert. He has more gear than most of us, you not included, but it's just boring tone generators and weirdly shaped specialized computers.

The T4B is here but not the screwdrivers to get at the innards (KT2A). Wondering if I should swap out some tubes while I’m in there. Pretty sure I have some 12ax7s lying around that would probably be better than whats in there now.
Cheers, Geoff

My favorite question is "do you really know what all those buttons are for?" usually from one of my wife's friends.

Another Sony C535 at a price way below the EBay insanity and scored an absolutely stupid price on 10 used Rycote INV7 mounts. I was actually going to buy a pair of the Samar mounts but 10 of these for the price of 2 Samar was just to good to pass up.
