I’ve got a stainless Tru-Arc Sepentune on my 6120. It *really* woke that guitar up. Like, faaaaar more than I expected. I think you’ll love it on your Tennessee Rose! Wow that’s awesome to hear! It wasn’t cheap but it seems to resolve a lot of issues! I was really surprised at how much it improved the tone and sustain on mine. I didn’t have too many rattles before, but the sustain, volume, and sensitivity are vastly better now. I always felt like I had to really push and pull that guitar to try and get life out of it. The bridge changed its identity. Much livelier now. I’m actually going to ask Tim to make one for one of my Rickenbackers just to see what it does there.

Wired up a new to me Adam sub8 courtesy of RGO classifieds and our desert dwelling pal carymiller . I don't really have anything to compare it to since I've never used a sub for mixing in my own place but man what a difference maker. After about a billion REW captures I found a configuration that completely eliminated my 120hz issue, minimized my 80hz issue, and nearly eliminated a 400hz dip that was the result of toggling my 310's mid-bass settings to try to fix the other issues. In other words, they really flattened out my low end a lot! But also, the music I'm listening to sounds like I would want it to. I'm hoping I'll be much closer to easier translation if I'm just making it sound good instead of constantly thinking about "well don't forget the bass will be louder everywhere else." Music just sounds better when you can enjoy the bass line. Thanks for a fair deal and fast shipping Cary! You're totally welcome man!!!!!

I bought a pick today. Cheers, Geoff What was it, Geoff? I'm a big believer in different picks - I find they can change the sound of a guitar immensely. FWIW I usually just buy a Quick Pick. That's the Ticket.

Vacuvox V41 EF12 version. Sounds great. Their products seem to be the Bugatti's of analog audio. The inside of that thing looks insane.
I'm sure you've bought spare tubes Paul? Any recommendations where to get good EF12's? I'm searching for a spare or 2 myself for my Flea 47 microphone.

Schoeps M221 with M934 capsule. Fingers crossed it’s a good one, a few years back I bought one and it was DOA…luckily got a refund on that.

Vacuvox V41 EF12 version. Sounds great. We've got one here too. Even at line level it can add magic to stereo groups or full mixes. Killer on acoustic instruments or ambient mics. What have you been using it on?

Picked up an original Sontec MEP 250A yesterday... (Stereo Parametric from the late 70's) Unbelievable top end. My mastering engineer is going to hate me for a while while I over use this thing...

Picked up a used Speck LiLo. Had to build physical support for it, solder some cables and reconfigure my desk (need to paint) but sitting nicely and really loving being able to console workflow. Sounds awesome. Have it in the patchbay where the Chandler Mini Mixer was full normalled so I do want to do a comparison between all the summers I have but for now just getting things going with inserts, auxes and groups. Currently driving the output to two channels of a Tree Audio Stem and digging the sound (thanks for the idea, deaconblues ). Will try no chaining as well as driving to the SumBus, SH Equinox and Chandler MM at some point. Currently going from the monitor outs on it (no transformers) and agree with what I read up on the LiLo there that it's cloudy on that route. Fun as all getout, ergonomic and great to be able to solo and mute things so quickly. Still using the B26 for monitor control. Edit: maybe the image is loading now. Also had to build a little keyboard platform but digging the setup.

I'll return the favor -- thanks to Bat Lanyard I recently picked up one of those Carl Tatz Phantom Focus eChairs as seen in his photo. I have been struggling to consistently work in my studio for the past two years due to health issues, and this chair has made a HUGE difference over the last 10 days. There's a learning curve with it, but it works wonders for my condition.

That's really cool. I didn't know about these. I'm sending the link to a friend who I believe only has one working channel of four in his rack.

Pushing components to their maximums is part of the mojo on these sontecs. Thanks for your concern though, but this isn’t my first rodeo. I’m adept at maintaining and repairing vintage analog recording equipment. (JLM has a couple solutions for the h1000’s that I’ll add to my spares collection). Anyway, I just went the through the Sontec. Rewired the transformer primaries for 115v. Trimmed the power supply bias voltages for a perfect +/-18v (for optimum operating conditions for those precious opamps) and calibrated the dc offset for each band and it works like a dream. Loving this thing.

Switched from a super ultrawide Samsung CRG9 49 inch monitor to a very nice DELL 30 inch Ultrasharp IPS U3023E. Now I can use two sets of audio monitors. One of my HS8s is being a bitch and is making a noise, also it plays at a lower volume than it should. I matched the volume by tweaking the gain knobs but we all know that it's not alright haha. Anyway, it's a nice change on my desk, I have more space on it now, more vertical space is very appreciated, I do not really miss all the horizontal space. It's quite a change but it feels nice.
