Not sexy but bought a used UAD-2 Octo Satellite at a price I couldn't pass up...now I've got this at home and two Quad's at the studio so I don't think I'll ever have to worry about running out of juice

Whoa, interested to hear how you get on with this. I went the reverse, OG Aurora 8 to Titan (and an 8XR). The OG Aurora 8 doesn’t really compare to the 32 (n). The 8XR is a killer converter where the Titan doesn’t sound any better than an Avid 16io just quieter. According to a prism engineer the old models had much better power supplies which I suspect the new “dreams” have. They squeezed too much in the Titans. Prism sold their audio business and brand to Tracktion and now just makeas analyzers under Spectral Measurement. Development has lagged and there are still no Apple Silicon native drivers.

No wonder they were offering trade ins on my instagram page.

Fed Ex just fired all the local drivers here and are going to contract drivers. My local guy has been with them 20 years. He's selling his house and moving out of state. Not sure what he's going to do. FedEx is gutting the company and cutting their costs to the bone.

Their overall I.T. isn't good: tracking is often unavailable and delivery dates are all over the place. I'm pretty used to seeing 3 or 4 arrival dates for a package, which makes it a little hard to plan if you need to receive something in person. Packages that are designated as "signature require" are often dropped on the porch without even a knock on the door. UPS, while not perfect, has a largely union workforce who can apply some pressure when the work environment becomes unreasonable. Of course, Amazon has taken business away from both. There's even less security for their drivers than there is for Fedex.

I had no idea about all these Prism shakeups, always interesting to hear other's experiences. I've had horrible experiences with beloved brands that everyone else loved and in this case I've had nothing but great luck and experiences with Prism with the 8XR being super solid for 6-7 years now and the Titan being my favorite interface for travel/second HDX converter for the past few years, Lyra before that was great too. Glad to hear the new Auroras are also awesome, my old Aurora 8 was solid for 16 years with only one trip to Lynx for a checkup in that time.

Singular Audio Tubedrve. A nice unit for the price and the best 500 series saturation/distortion unit I’ve ever used.

Hang in there. They haven't lost anything of mine yet. The pigeon carrying your mics probably just had to rest.

Seismograph? The Vintage ones were first... Made in China. Gee I hope it's not just another cheap German knockoff. Once I was at a local Playhouse, performing Romeo and Julet.* But set during ancient Rome. When a big earthquake happened, right when the big fight scene (with sharp weapons) happened! SO Shakespearian. But I was cut from the play. Chris *Just Romeo Eric.

Those dumping PrismSound delusional. Those bad mouthing / dumping on Prism act like paid traitors. PrismSound conversion still world class. Support in USA from Frank O. is stellar. In switching allegiances someone was sold a bill of goods.

I picked up a Lynx Aurora (n) from a forum member here. It's a bit of an upgrade from my first gen Lynx Aurora. I'm a huge fan of Lynx. Great drivers and support.

Well, I really didn't expect to get another lens so close to my last two Zeiss Otus acquisitions, but I surprised myself. Just got the Zeiss Milvus 35mm f/1.4 for a great deal from a camera shop in Japan. Used it for about 5 hrs yesterday, and man, it smoked. Loved it. It is possibly already my favorite 35mm I've ever used. That leaves the only real remaining hole in my modern Zeiss collection to be the Otus 85mm f/1.4, which I would very much like to get. Lost an auction on one a couple nights ago.
The only possible other Zeiss lenses I'd honestly find a use for would be a 100mm (Classic and Milvus versions are f/2, Otus version is f/1.4) and maybe the Contax Zeiss 85mm f/2.8 AE version.
I'm very, very close to the end of assembling my Zeiss lines.

Bought into some Acustica plug-ins during their half-yearly sale. I’m pretty comfortable with UAD, would generally load their Studer A800 on every track and the ATR-102 on the two bus. 1176, LA-2A and the 660 or 670 for vocals. So I tried swapping in Taupe tape, El Rey and Ultramarine, and Gold5. Put the Tiger compressor on the two bus, and played with Snow and Cream, too. Across a full session, with the usual UAD plugins swapped out for Acustica equivalents, I must say, things sound considerably improved. Example with Acustica plugsOn a MacBook Pro M1 with 16 GB, LUNA’s render meter was pegged in the mid-90’s. But it worked, no skips on playback. And that was with a pretty excessive number of plugins invoked. And now I’m shopping for an M2 MacBook.

The Mapex Solidus 11-ply maple snare showed up today and she's pretty. After some bass tracking, I plan to sit and play and start getting to know her.
