Yeah those were fun, you could get away with using a 22 like a API 560 but man if you really really want to know what all the fuss about KT Graphics was you owe it to yourself to get a DN27! Just remember you don’t have to move all 27 faders😳

Just remember you don’t have to move all 27 faders😳 I really struggled with the higher number fader/pot fized frq EQs (>15 bands), and also so many are not in/out transfo balanced or are poorly balanced with schlock transfos. I had a bunch, and some were actually even super sweet, but untenable for me at least. I tried some truly delicious ones like the SCV 231 SPR and the TEQ DG-4022, but I've learned that for me more than ~10 bands is just not appropriate for my workflow and ability. And the DN27 is (I think) only one single channel and does not have these same hefty transformers. At least I couldn't find pics of DN-27s with luscious transfos like this, but that may depend on the model and who is selling it. With regards the DN-22, I got a good 'un, but I've seen several DN-22 with no transformers or with just transfos only on ins or outs. Not a knock on those gearz, 'cause certainly transfos are not required for tone when we have so many inductors on board, but the fixed freq high knob/fader number (15-31 fader per channel) is just analysis paralysis with not enough width in the freq per knob for me. And running 2 X DN27 but not using the bands instead of running my DN22 and using the bands is not appealing.

The 27 was the original KT product, the transformers do indeed add something, but 27 bands of inductors just brings some magic.

SO graphic. Especially for "tender eyes and ears". (Like Eric) BTW my little eye spied a "Made In Germany" on one of the parts. Chris

Really tight and characterful sound, and as you said the sequencer and live operation are inspiring and easy once you're used to them.

Thanks ! Yeah I'm excited, I love the Autechre-style digi sound and have been searching for a long time.
I'll see if I like the Machinedrum UW RAM machines controlled via MIDI (the realtime live sampling facility), then I'll consider their Octatrack "dynamic sampler" too, which draws its basic concept from the Machinedrum UW RAM machines.
But the Octa sound is meh because of very bad converters. I never liked the demos I heard of it, and then discussions emerged saying they use the cheapest convertor chips available & confirmed my impressions. Old 2$ cellphone convertors, really bad quality. Shitty cheap chips ! Hopefully a MK3 is on the horizon...
At least the Machinedrum doesn't try to fake transparent conversion like the Octa, it's 12 bit and that's all you get, for better or worse. xxx

Got a pair of Serrano 87s over the weekend and I'm seriously impressed! These mics are punching way above their weight class. Multi-pattern condensers were the one thing in my mic locker where I had a bit of a hole, but now I'm feeling very good about my options!

Just picked up the Savant audio Quantum reverb plug. I didn’t even demo it. Super easy process, quick download and install. Shows up in Logic as validated and I try to put it on a track and its not there. Restart Logic and same thing. Do I need to do something more to authorize? Look in the plugins library folder and everything looks good. Then pop it on a stereo track. Bingo. There it is.
Anyhow I was doing so well not buying plugins. But it’s like crack.
Cheers, Geoff

I got my Eastwood Classic 12 today. It was a killer deal on a B-stock for $300 off. It sounds great, even when my drummer ass plays it. link

Senn 441-U -- about 15 years old, in minty fresh shape!
What a cool sounding mic, unlike any other dynamic I've tried.
