Traded a Hairball FET/Rack to a friend for an AKG C414B-ULS...and tomorrow driving to Little Rock to met someone and get a pair of PMC IB2S speakers with Sound Anchor stands!!! Probably way to big for my house set up but I've really been wanting a pair of full range speakers.

I got a couple Behringer ECM8000 omni mics that I'm going to just use as donor bodies for a fancier omni mic build, at some point.
Oh and an IK Irig 2 HD iphone interface thingy, that's been fun to mess with. Last night was using it with the new Roland Zenology free IOS DAW. I kind of hate recording on a phone but I think you could get something passable with this technology. Hell, Steve Lacey is a producer that makes major label tracks on an iphone, so the bar has been raised that high.
Also got the Airwindows MackEQ for free, since it's a free plugin. Really fun, sounds like a Mackie mixer. Used this one and the 32 bit MDA Leslie plugin, with a funky Audio Assault amp sim, and got a sound that I find very appealing.
Guess I'm vibing on this "cheap gear" sound right now. Maybe I can pretend to be NIN or GBV or something, we'll see what comes of it.

Just be aware of their potential frequency response variations if you anticipate using their capsules as a matched pair (scroll down to the Jul 23, 2009 entry) www.cross-spectrum.com/weblog/2009/07/Martin

I'll likely order some Primo capsules, or just use some cheap JLI parts I have on hand. It's smart to think ahead. Maybe I can match a pair before I settle on the final builds. There's this other blog I follow, Audio Improv, who has some crude microphone measurement strategies I might look into, for things like matching a pair of capsules.

Welcome to the world of Volt woofers and Scan Speak mids! Excited! I’ve been wanting some “forever” speakers. Hoping these are it! Here is the one thing with PMC and transmission lines in general you either love or hate the lowest part of the lowend, BUT in most cases it is just the bottom octave or 2 that you might dislike so add a pair of SVS 3000 series and boom! One warning though the mids might just make you crave that last ounce of detail that the ATC or PMC / Volt dome brings and that last ounce will cost you literally lots of Pounds!

They call it the IB2S because you will have irritable bowel syndrome times 2, from that low end. sorry I had to

I picked up an Audioscape 76A a few weeks ago and just like all the reviews I've read here, I'm very impressed the unit as well as superfast shipping & great communication. I used to work at a studio that had an original blue stripe and the 76A looks and sounds better than I imagined.

I got a UA Ox and a 20 watt mini Marshall Silver Jubilee head recently. It’s the perfect setup to rock out at home and not disturb the neighbors.

It can be faster than the original, and it sounds the same but no noise! I wish everyone here and on purple could own at least one 76a. They are really that great!

I have 4 now. 2 are modified by Jim Williams are very natural and flat, and the stock ones work great on toms and bright stuff like banjos. Embrace the darkness haha

Got Shimmer Shake Strike, mostly because ragan said it's a good songwriting/groove tool.... something that could prove to be integral for me.... need to make an attempt on the next song to really nail the pocket. Looking for that One Man Band-Aid. And a bunch of Fuse plugins (really good.) And the Black Rooster Halloween Edition of VPRE-73, for extra dirt. Kind of cool how Ray's VPRE's are consistent from BLA to his own brand, in a way. I'm loaded with these now, just missing one or two. Oh and I have to mention these exciting guitar parts... tuners for my 335 (Epiphone) and pickup covers for my PRS SE Custom 24. Seems like I spend half my money on things like these. Guitars should be perfect, IMO, not needy.

Four more Rycote shock mounts. Which Rycote's mounts? I have 4 Rycote INV-HG mkIII I use for sdc and other mics, especially useful for stereo location work where floor vibrations can be an issue.

One of those and a couple of the longer shotgun type, all that same basic SDC thing. It was a used pile a guy was dumping

Picked up a SPL Transient Designer 4 at a reasonable price. Now I’m cutting myself off for a little while!

Picked up a SPL Transient Designer 4 at a reasonable price. Now I’m cutting myself off for a little while! Awesome! Transient manipulation is an underutilized tool and feels a bit like voodoo to me. I love my elysia nvelope. Here’s a cool 2-part blog post from the OG: www.elysia.com/transient-designer-story/
