After years of meaning to grab one I finally got my own Beyer M88. I love this mic. I love mine. What are you using it for? (Side note... you could probably save newbies a lot of headache by telling them "don't overthink it, just buy one or two of everything Beyerdynamic makes and you'll be fine." Do they have a bad product?)

So far M88 getting use on (demo/rehearsal) vocals, bass and guitar cabs and I tried it quickly on the kick to give my old D12 a break, think I might try them together on kick next time as I sense something complimentary in there, at least on this particular kit.

I honestly think the m160 is my favorite mic ever made at any price point. For my ears it makes everything just sound smooth and beautiful. Should be everyone's first "real" mic in my opinion.

Finally grabbed a WA47 (at a steep discount too). It’s really fantastic. Sounds even better than my expectations. Brings the 47 sound to my studio at a very nice price point. Used to have an AA cm47ve. The Warm has more of the larger than life sound I associate with the 47. I wasn’t wowed by a lot of the online demos, which is why I never grabbed one, but it just goes to show you gotta try these things in your space to truly understand them.

Yeah, the WA47 is surprisingly good. It’s maybe a little more 47ish than a real U47, but at that price point who cares?

I grabbed Oxford Inflator HDX. I demoed it for two weeks. Nothing really seems to do quite what it does in the same way. Really enjoy it on mixbus or mastering.

I generally enjoy the Early Rap/Hip Hop more. Also in awe of Rakim's lyrics. Chris

The engineer at a local classical studio has all the cool toys, Merging tech setup, DPA's, Schoeps, Neumann's, AEA's etc. Got a warm 47 as I recall and it gets use alongside the others. I was surprised.

Pair of RND 542 tape emulators on the way for 2 buss and tracking. My Otari died and I miss some of the vibe and none of the maintenance.
48 months 0% APR. Yea I know. Never buy on credit. It'll be fine.

have a pair of Michael Joly modded Apex 205 ribbons on the way! I have had one since 2008 and always wanted to make a pair. sadly, he stopped modding mics and I think Apex stopped making this mic as well. Last one I saw on Reverb was $500. got this pair for $750.

I just bought a Yamaha BBP35 (broad bass 5 string). I'd been looking at five string basses for years but never found the one I wanted. I'm partial to passive basses. I never got along with the hyped highs and lows of active basses that I've worked with in the studio. I also loath batteries in instruments. They always go weak right in the middle of a session and it takes a while to realize that the slight distortion is from the bass. The BBP35 is the top of the line at Yamaha. Has a PJ pickup setup, which is also what I wanted. Should arrive in a day of two. Very stoked.

Svartbox courtesy of mythundreamt. Only a brief time with it thus far, but sounds great. Just one more piece and the vocal chain is complete. (That's what I keep telling myself, anyway.)

What's your current chain consist of and have you sold your 251?

REDD > AudioScape Opto > Svartbox > (SPDIF) RME Multiface II > Reaper Been waiting on a preamp since March. The REDD works well direct to the AS Opto, but I want the sonics and flexibility of this particular pre, as well as needing it for another mic. And yes, sold the Z-251 last week.
