Received my mint Real Traps PVB from Mark W., yesterday evening. Am hoping to have some time by this weekend, to try it out! I'm limited to recording moderate volume vocals at work after hours otherwise. Plus I can record better practice VO's. Am confident it'll open up more volume options. (Been having a blast with practicing some Classic Rock vocals lately) Getting ready for that big Rick Beato invite! Chris

NGD. New to me Gretsch day. Gonna link to the guitar shops pics. They’re way better than anything I could do but not sure how much longer they’ll be up. Gretsch Jet
Cheers, Geoff

I just plugged in a new BOSS GA-FC footswitch, hoping to unlock some new tones with my Katana amps!

Where the hell did you find one ! I’ve been looking for quite a while. Nice grab I know I've been trying to get either a BG1 or BG2 forever! Found a used one on Reverb last week. I just got it hooked up, been messing around for about 10 minutes and it has far exceeded all expectations! What a beautiful compressor.

Kinda went on a limb with this one, but solid so far. Only a week or two with it.

Just got a second hand Faderport 16
I have been trying to add more and more automation to my mixes as I think it takes them that last 10% towards great.
I work in LUNA so I had to wait till they added control surface.
My first impressions of grabbing 3 -4 faders of backing vocals to push and pull has been great.
I also got a pair of replacement tubes for my SA-47 which was acting up a couple of weeks ago and it seemed the tube had gone microphonic. The next day though it was fine but I got them as a precaution. Will swap it out to see the difference.

Highland Dynamics BG1! I have a BG1 and 2 x BG2's finished and arriving in the next 2 weeks It took a loooong time... and a lot of patience Bryce is slammed with orders / shortage of transformers and parts / building his tube console, and his recording work.

Wow, congrats! I’d love to hear your thoughts about the differences between the BG1 & BG2 once you get them.

I always want to like the Faderport 16, b/c it looks so elegant. But I just can’t fathom not having pan pots on each channel. Seems like an insane design decision to me. But seriously, very glad it’s working for you. 👍

As I have been pondering the new m1x mbp, their performance , cost and lamenting no m1x mini yet. This morning a few hours away a guy is selling a less than 1 year old m1 mini, 256g drive and 16g ram, 3 years of apple care, magic large keyboard, mkii track pad and an acer 32 inch curved hdmi monitor asking $1200 cdn and I got it all for a grand. That’s like 40% of retail up here, feel very lucky.
Have to go to Genius Bar tomorrow to revert to big sur, he had loaded Monterey: a first world problem.

However once you have gone through the tracks once to set up the panning …. the number of times I want to move a pan knob is not that frequent compared to volume automation. Selecting the track with my right hand and reaching to the too left pan knob is actually pretty easy to commit to muscle memory. But hey, I’m only 4 days in … who knows what my frustrations will become :-) I have ordered the wooden frame from mixing table which will add a 15 degree tilt .. I think that will help with the legibility of the track names as right now I seem to be peering into the little screens at too slanted an angle www.mixingtable.com/faderport-16-lux

Other studio expenses keep me from acquiring the AudioScape reverb right now, so I purchased a couple of small Mod tanks to use with my Radial Tank Drivers for shorter delay time. Even if I do eventually buy the AudioScape I'll still keep this set up of mixing and matching old/new, large/small tanks.
