Godhertz Megaverb. All Alesis type reverbs must be bought. This is the coolest one since the Quadraverbs.

12 string Rickenbacker is one of those things where I just need to suck it up and throw down 2Gs because I’m never going to find one cheaper
I bought a CAPI FC526 off reverb cheap that doesn’t have a working gain reduction meter. Hopefully an easy fix

Hopefully an easy fix I finally did that a few years back and have the same one Ward just posted. It’s such a treasure. When you need that sound (I do, often) there’s only one way to get it.

I bought a mapleglo 330 when I was 15 with my babysitting money. Still have it! A matching 12 would be sweet

Here's a weird one for you guys: This is a clone of the Altec 9069 passive HPF, utilizing a custom Cinemag multitap inductor. It's a very nice sounding and surprisingly steep HPF, but the intention here is to recreate the phasing effects pioneered by legendary dub reggae mixer Osbourn "King Tubby" Ruddock in Jamaica in the 1970s. You put this on a group or aux and mix it back in with the dry to hear the phase shift difference. Obviously you'd want to use some spring reverb and echo to enhance the effect.

My friend who has a music shop, had a mint 65 or 66 12 String "Rick" hung up there for sale.
Not sure if it sold yet. IIRC it was on consignment. Chris

A REDD.47 (thanks, Jason) which made bass finally do its thing with some guts and magic.
Flock Audio Patch.
Very interesting tool, the Patch. Only a few days with it, but a cool ride. Allowed me to remove a shitton of patch cables between two bays. It's not a magic bullet by any stretch and there's the whole I/O gobble thing, but it sure adds a level up to routing. I ended up cabling my mixbus together since I've had the same routing there for three years or so. That also let me do some better routing with hardware inserts in PT that I was cabling before between bays.
I had a Liaison in my setup for a year or so which was fantastic. The Patch is more flexible though with the number of things I like to shift around on sources. Good times.
Edit: I'm still using my two patchbays. One for preamps (not doing any of that shit with the Patch) and the other for routing hardware inserts via normalling.

I'd love to get rid of some of the patch cable nightmare. Edit: I'm still using my two patchbays. How do you get around this when wanting to use outboard racked in the Flock in a recording situation? Or am I missing something fundamentally obvious? Anyways, congrats on a cool piece of gear!

How do you get around this when wanting to use outboard racked in the Flock in a recording situation? Or am I missing something fundamentally obvious? Anyways, congrats on a cool piece of gear! Thanks, man. I'm really digging it so far. I left my H3000 as a hardware insert, for example, because it makes more sense that way. For recording, I ended up putting my physical patchbay in between so that I could use a Distressor for tracking if I wanted. That type of thing. I'm definitely not into the whole "plug your mics into this" with the Flock. I don't know, just seems weird to me. Sources in more traditional, Flock for all the stuff I'd like to use like plugins (single-use, unfortunately, but cool). Edit: and on the cabling, btw, it's a much better world. I had about 30 cables going between the two bays and now I have just what I need. Really cool part of integrating it.

Soldered together a new headphone cable for my AKG K702 trusty pair. Use it mainly with the phone. Canare thinner 2 core shielded cable, made in Japan.
There were a few posters here over the years that got me thinking about cables. Jim Williams, Bob Olhsson mentioned the thicker HD650 cable that I like.
Don't know why I was skeptical. But this cable sounds significantly better than the stock, thin AKG cable. It's kind of obvious, not really that subtle when you switch back and forth.
So yeah, a cheap thrill, a few minutes at the soldering desk. I guess I'm a proponent of nice headphone cables now. Not the audiophile stuff, but better cable. Doesn't have to cost $300 I don't want to go there.

On Friday I’m picking up a late 50’s “Eagle Badge” Rogers kit. Interested to hear them...they have really flat and thick bearing edges and are pretty much designed to be tuned low and thuddy. Which, at least in Nashville, seems to be what everyone wants.

Well, unfortunately Jerry Kerrigan isn't around anymore. Or Billy Sherrill for that matter. I don't have a problem with dead drums with towels over them...it's just always refreshing to hear something tuned wide open! Also, I *believe* Jerry recorded with Sonor drums. They were surprisingly popular in Nashville. They have pretty thin shells with no reinforcement rings, pretty similar to Gretsch but made of beech which is a brighter wood.
