This has been a huge undertaking and wild journey. I've gone with windows 10 LTSC aka the NO FLUFF version. 1 SSD for OS / Programs 1 SSD for sessions. This thing fly's. Next is to go from 32gb to 64gb of the fastest ram (4000).

My mom says I'm smart, but I disappoint her. Not as much as the RE10 does, however. I’ve bought a bunch of old EV mics over the last year. The balance of mid range to lows and highs can be off putting. Don’t give up on it. I find that the EVs often work well where you wouldn’t think they would and vice versa. I think all of us have been conditioned lately that every mic should have impressive, tight lows, smooth mids, and angelic highs. EVs are more of a color on the palette and I’m using them often. And yes, do what John said and carefully take out the old foam. I can post a link to HVAC foam that works well if you’d like. I couldn't agree more! The EV series works well on odd/difficult instruments that give you that WTF/paralysis moment.
And, hey, who else has a mic with a Phillips-head screw in the top??

"odd instruments"... I resemble that remark! Nonetheless, 441/M88/RE20 and even the "ubiquitous SM7" (sheesh!), work better on my voice. Chris P.S. But Elvis' Studio Vocals did sound wonderful, on the RE10's close Fraternal Twin... The RE15.

My new gear days aren't nearly as cool as yours!
I just picked up a Big Muff Pi. I'm excited to use it on non-guitar sounds and make weird shit to hide in non-weird-shit songs!

Which specific big muff did you get? I am something of a muff enthusiast, and have built up most of them by now in my own collection. My exciting new gear acquisition is a Daphne Blue coily cable from Fender for the bass rig in the main room. Someone called it Carolina Blue I guess that's a little more accurate given the circumstances. It's not the best color they have, but it was the color that was on sale when I was shopping. Also been testing the CAPI CA-0252 op amps and the Z Vex style 2-in-1 pedal I just built. I made it more to "Landgraff" specs though. Good stuff. The 312 preamp with the CA-0252 and my newest A-65J (Triad) Wolfie box is sort of a golden channel for bass right now, just loving these sounds.

BMB1 for the B80, HD Native Thunderbolt to facilitate the transition. And the license. Is what it is.

Built a couple tiny pultecs today
I have gone to order a pair so often, and have never pulled the trigger. I've only run some random music through them so far and I don't have any sort of tube pultec to compare, but they sound awesome to me. They definitely do that thing in a very cool way. I have to think they'd be useful even if someone already had the tube variety, for a different flavor and they're so compact why not?
It's interesting how much difference there was switching opamps. I wasn't expecting much since it's just boosting back to line level, but there's quite a bit in the overall tone and especially the boosts. I liked the gar1731 for a balance between the stiffer gar2520 and the wooly CA-0252. 2520 had very nice sparkle but the bass wasn't as warm (some would prefer this I'm sure). I should try the garOA10 since I love them in the BT50s.
Having built a bunch of 500 kits (17! WTF?) since the Covid thing, I'd definitely recommend these. The parts are great and the finished units are slick. I will say that I've been spoiled building CAPI and AML kits. Those guys really have their act together. This is a simple build if you already know what you're doing but the docs are just OK. Also the new transformer bracket is a little off. I had to get crafty on them with the aviation snips in order to get those sweet shiny covers on. Just maybe don't make it the first time you've ever built something is all I'm saying.

I have gone to order a pair so often, and have never pulled the trigger. I've been doing that with a couple of CAPI kits recently. Like usual when I'm thinking of buying something online, I'll add it to the cart and then wait ~24 hours to make sure I really need whatever it is before moving forward. With the CAPI kits, by the time I come back, some of the components end up out of stock again.

Cool looks like a fairly modern "NYC big muff." Those are great pedals! You've built a bunch of these sorts of things, huh? Any mods I should know about. I've built a couple pedals, a DI box, and a reamp box (plus a pile of cables) so I'm adept enough with the solder gun that I could probably do something you'd recommend. I'm always going for unique sounds whenever possible!

I'm always going for unique sounds whenever possible! There is probably 75% empty space in that huge enclosure, so you've got a lot of room for mods. My favorite mod for this one is either a Mids knob, or maybe a switch to add extra mids, a la Skreddy. Some people like the Tone Bypass. It makes a way too loud hideously disgusting distortion sound, but some people are into hideous, gross, deafening sounds. I also like the stage 1 and stage 2 diode lift mod. Gives you some extra tones. Do a switch for both stages separately. You can also play with different diodes in the clipping sections. It can be subtle, but some might do something you like. There are many more possibilities these are just the ones I gravitate to.

It's bonkers good! Yeah, I love my 71-73 V4-B. It was my first real bass amp. The V-2 4x12 cab that I have is a bit much for practicing at home. Realized I play more when I can easily plug in.
