Makes you wonder, why it hasn't been done before.. same with the Pultec and the 76 he did... I own the pultec and the 76 he did.. they have some quirks... But, at their price point they sound cool and do a good job... beyond that, I really don't give it much thought... cheers Wiz Bryce has been great at cutting the corners that can be cut and get the essential sound. What makes me laugh and Bryce and I have talked about this, the conversation about WARM VS original are pretty much the same as high dollar Clone VS original!

I'm talking about apple to apples, if you like original API, then Jeff's stuff is spot on because the designs are adhering to the left behind originals(don't see too many electros at all in them btw), this Wa2a is clearly not adhering to the original by witness of all those electros/Ic, so keep that in mind is all i'm saying, there are units that have traditionally horrible sounding caps like tantalums in them(Neve), if i was to see a clone i'd expect to see them, you pickin up what i'm puttin down? This thing could be better than an La2a for all I know, I hope it is, but i haven't heard it, I hope to mess with it this weekend though.... I'm feeling you tony. But if those circuits sound good... then... don't the caps sound good too? Do you see the logic there? I see the LA2A as sort of a mojo monster along the lines of API and NEVE. If we were talking hi-fi gear, the caps might be a different story. I am very curious about the deviations from the classic circuit, it would be great to see a schematic but I doubt we will get to. monkey, read my posts properly so you don't post wildly out of context.

Um...I didn't take Monkey's responses as argumentative. He was actually really nice. What are you upset about?

Sure, no problem. I'm trying to understand the best I can, relative to whomever is posting at the moment. You got into some technical details that I'm interested in, so I just posted what I thought, as a devil's advocate's advocate. All I can do is offer my own experience and I'm sure we all have different ones, it's not a contest though. I'm pretty sure Bryce at Warm Audio feels good about what he's doing I'm just trying to wrap my head around that in this thread, with very little details as of yet. I'm just hoping we can all learn something from each other.

why are either of you reading emotion into what I said? Represent what i posted accurately(which would mean avoiding wildly assumptive assertions, and not implying that i said "all circuits containing electrolytics sound bad" when i didn't), or expect a response of me setting you straight.
or better put in context to this debacle..., don't put words in my mouth and then ask me why I said them.
If you still don't get what i'm saying here, go back and ACCURATELY read my posts, and then read monkey's, it should clear it up.

Last year at NAMM I told Bryce I had WA76 #1, he said, "No way," I said "Way." Looks faked!! LOL... JUST KIDDING, Don!

I guess "monkey, read my posts properly so you don't post wildly out of context..." and "you're dragging my posts into your point of view while completely mis understanding my points by virtue of your response, so if you want to state something as YO, leave me out of it if your not going to represent what i've said properly..." just came across as accusatory and aggressive - but maybe I'm the only one. I get your point - and I agree with you. It really is just all about the design in the end. As Wiz said - either it sounds good or it doesn't.

I hope this thing kicks ass for everyone who gets one, i really do, i was just trying to be helpful by bringing attention to the point about the design being apparently different. No offense meant to Monkey or anybody for that matter, i've always liked him and appreciate his comments, i'm just very careful not to put words into other peoples mouths, and i'd like to be treated the same, it was done 2 different times here and both were inaccurate as to what my original point was.

Probably just a written-word-not-communicating-the-intended-vibe thing but it just sounded like you were on the warpath totally out of left field, that's all.
