I totally agree with Zac Browns discontent with a lot of todays new Country, but doesn't his new song Jump Right In belong on a Jimmy Buffet album? Musically and vocally it's great but it belongs on a cruise ship.

Don't think I can compete with that song cowboy. I do have a title that just popped into my head though, "Even My Dog Don't Love Me No More". Beautiful sound on the Brecker/JT track, it's a bit of a snooze though.
Just thought up a first line, "I won't stop drinkin, til I stop thinking bout you".

The truth in that Jason Isbal song is mesmerizing. Never heard anything like it really. Isn't that what separates truly great artists from the pack? Holding up the mirror and laying it out bare? Calling that a great song isn't even close to good enough.

Uhh,, which Jason Isbal song cowboy, did I miss something? This one hit me right between the eyes, the lyrics are devastating. And the arrangement has be re-thinking the urge to write complex songs. Sometimes, it's not necessary, or even desirable.

ahh, thanks Matt, thanks Tony. Now, THAT's some good music there popmann posted. It's out there, it's alive, just not as well as it should be. Commercialism is dominating, but that can change. When pop music and AM radio dominated in the sixties, in NYC, WNEW began playing so much good music, no one ever went back, It can happen again.

Here's a song by Chris Knight from 1999. That whole album changed me for the better. Same with Radney Foster's "See What You Want To See"...

I added the following comment: "What an absolute pile of crap. There are real songwriters in Nashville, and one right here. Why not hire one instead of exposing just how base and unintelligent you actually are?
If you like this crap, chances are you think McD's is the highest form of food known to humans."

Justin Moore Says He Has “a Problem” With Zac Brown Calling Out Luke Bryan’s Hit
“Where I do have a problem with it is when you call out somebody in your fraternity,” he says.
Brad Schmitt Justin Moore Says He Has “a Problem” With Zac Brown Calling Out Luke Bryan’s Hit Justin Moore says he has “a problem” with Zac Brown calling Luke Bryan’s latest hit, “That’s My Kind of Night,” the “worst song” he’s ever heard [1].
“You know what, everybody has their opinions and I don’t have a problem with people having their opinions, but where I do have a problem with it is when you call out somebody in your fraternity,” he tells radio host Broadway [2].
“Do we all like every song on the radio? Do the fans like every song on the radio? No—music’s subjective,” Justin says. “There’s never going to be a song that everybody loves; there’s never going to be a song that everybody hates.
“But that said, Luke’s a friend of mine and a great guy, great husband, great father, etc. And I wouldn’t have took too kindly to it if I was him,” he says.
“I don’t see the upside to it. You can never make yourself look good by trying to make somebody else look bad.”
Jason Aldean also has taken up for Luke, posting online to Luke’s detractors [3], “trust me when I tell u that nobody gives a s--t what u think.”

So, just to recap, Justin Moore has no problem with anyone having an opinion unless it's not the opinion he shares.

That demonstrates part of the problem we're discussing. It's like the emperors new clothes, no one wants to publicly step up and call bullshit, but when someone does, someone else says the emperors new clothes are OK with me, and even if you don't like them, well.. you really shouldn't say anything because the emperor's a really nice guy. If the bad music we're discussing was being mixed in with plenty of music from artists like the tracks posted, and with artists like Ryan Adams, Emmylou, Lucinda, and I'm sure many others worthy of notice, I wouldn't mind so much.

I am really tired of hearing Florida Georgia Line on the radio. Not sure who wrote their songs but they are just rehashed rhymes from years gone by. Seriously, nail-jail-bail. I mean bale.

Clearly, we're not the audience for these songs, and the powers that be who sell this could care less what we think, it's not meant for us anyway. What's missing is the balance.
It is important to keep in mind there are obviously a lot of people listening to this, and these crappy faux country/pop songs can be the bridge that leads to better and better music.
I'd much rather some kid enjoy Florida Georgia Line, than play some dumb ass computer game, (even if the song nauseates me every time I hear it, now that's it's been so overplayed). By balance, I mean a radio station and video station that plays the deeper and more soulful tracks, as well as the commercial ones.
When I was 19 my girlfriend had a little sister that was crazy about Kiss, posters on the wall, Kiss bedding, dolls, pillows, you know what I mean. Two years later, Kiss was for little kiddies, the bedding had been changed, and she was on to the Rolling Stones. The thing is, she already loved music, heard the Rolling Stones, and followed the vibe.
If there's no viable outlet to hear great country, country/rock, Bluegrass, New Grass, Country Folk, whatever , that kind of transition will never happen, and you get what we have now, media telling us some pop star is great, when they're barely mediocre, and people believe the media hype.
There seems to be a fear factor in Country music, don't rock the boat, play nice, pretend it's all good, or you might alienate your audience, otherwise known as your cash supply. So, simply put, money before art is the norm now. Artists like Hank Williams lived the truth and sang of it. Great Country will rise again.
If you can put aside personal political views for a minute, look at what happened to the Dixie Chicks, one misstep, and they were vilified. It's no wonder so many top selling artists are playing it safe. Brad Paisley's trying to open it up a bit, but will have to take a lot of shit for it.

You still have all your old favorites to listen to. I have so much here I really don't need to find "new music". It's far more fun making crappy new music than it is to listen to it.
The catalogs are your friends. When the new batch start making music back up to that level I might give it a listen, otherwise I have over a thousand CD's to keep me entertained.
