As much as a pain as that is, IMO, commercials are the only way subscription business models can "work" and still pay out a fair rate to content providers. I hear ya though..... I just don't think streaming and people's ideas of what streaming is or should be works....

I just got this going, the streaming quality seems half decent, but what confuses me(i haven't read into the details at all), i was under the impression this is a paid subscription..right? why are they running commercials? I'm not interested in PAYING for a monthly subscription and having to listen to commercials...? am i missing something? What are you listening to? The radio station? I can search for any music I want to listen to and play it with no commercials...also, I've listened to the Americana station pretty regularly and haven't had any commercials...

The streaming is 256k AAC which is pretty impressive.

You think your ADBlock+ is filtering commercials out? Why the diff between your and Tony's experience?

hmm, iTunes is an App. I don't think AdBlock would matter.

Tony, have you signed up with your Apple ID and commuted to paying after the 3 months? Actually, you don't have to commit to that...but I did have to set up with my Apple ID.

I set it up with my apple ID, but didn't commit to anything(i thought it was a trial period?), i have to say that the sound quality, though not amazing, is better than any radio type experience i've ever had, and kills any HD i've heard off of youtube(why is that?), it's pretty dang cool if you ask me, i may actually sign up for this... Could it be that apple may change this whole mess with this thing? If they pay the creators, i'll stick with apple till the cows come home(not difficult considering i love their computers and phones already 8) I am listening through my HR824's off built in Mac pro DAC.

Don't you automatically get billed at the end of the trial period, unless you opt out. I read that somewhere.. I think? cheers Wiz

You can probably state less than 50% will go to the rights owners, fairly safely. I think of the 10 million Monopoly Moneys we're talking, 2 million going to the artists would be an optimistic number. The money would have to be paid as a percentage of the Artist's allocation of the subscription of the subscription otherwise they risk having to pay more than was budgeted. People leaving on playlists, muting their laptop and going to cook dinner could listen to hours of music without ears being present. Expensive! If that's not the case I'd imagine the royalty income per play that is arranged will be so small that there is almost guaranteed surplus for Apple to pocket after the fact. Could an artist, pay for a family plan, set up 6 computers that would continually play the artist's music around the clock, break even in royalties with the subscription? Make a profit? I wonder. Heck, get his parents and a few friends to turn off their speakers and play it whenever they're not around too.. While and they're at it ..might as well make the piece .006 seconds long so it gets the max amount of plays..

I'm trying to remember, but I think I had to agree to something and sign up with my Apple ID. Ah - here's an email I got. didn't get any email, i just signed in with my apple ID and went at it, they have the same repetitive circulation of McDonald's, Game of thrones, Napa auto parts and... ? can't remember the other one... Fleetwood/Mac Gold dust woman just came on, i have the HDtracks 96/24 Rumors album that i loaded into a pro tools session so i can listen through my good conversion, i happened to be listening to it earlier today and it was still up, so i was able to switch back n forth with one push of a button, i level matched them by ear, and there was no small difference, the HDtracks version is vastly superior, super 3d and butter, but that said, the 256 AAC stream is still not bad, i'm hearing a lot of music from albums i don't own, and can hear what's happening in the mixes better than the 30,000 times i've heard these songs in the past haha

Usually half the number of bits to describe the same signal will result in equal quality. So a 256 AAC is a higher quality perceptual model than 320 kbps MP3.

I typed something somewhere here that said the same thing - getting to hear anything you want at the touch of a button - that's what's appealing to me.
We gotta figure out why you're getting commercials.

If it was commercials for mic, pre's and compressors, we'd know why...... LOL

You can listen without signing up for the trial but you get commercials on everything but beats one. That's what I'm most interested in because it could trash pandora and spotify if it's executed well enough.

I've been an apple user for more than a decade. I'm unimpressed by the new music app. Spotify did it better. So much more intuitive. That was once apple's domain (making their prodcuts an intuitive experience for new users)

here's the latest, singer songwriter station, the FF radio button is inactive, i can't skip to the next song? wth is that? and still plenty of commercials....
Spotify!? we're hoping apple will step it up, spot/pand etc all suck ass and don't pay creators, no one here will promote them as being better than anyone(except maybe satan himself,) and get away with it haha
not to mention their streams sound of ass.....

Man...I don't know what's going with yours, but I just skipped 12 and stopped...no commercials. You see what Bob said up above? Considering you didn't get an email like the one I got above, I would venture to guess that you haven't subscribed somehow.
