I have 3 usernames that were banned  BTW - I would think sll's Red Dots would be the most colored, right? At least that was my experience with the different opamps in the pres... I have not listened critically to the all the files yet, but it sounds like the 1731 might be the most colored to me? It seems that the opamps react a little differently in the mic press vs. the compressor. There's more gain required of the opamps in the mic circuit, and the input loading can affect things too. I have a request to come up with another opamp in the 1731 style. I'm trying to get ahold of some original Meclors to dissect and figure out what I can come up with using modern parts ala the red dot. I'm anxious to get a pair of Jeff's 526 kits for myself. I'm always stunned at how many great products Jeff keeps coming up with. |
