jsteiger When you talk about the 1731s in the post above, is it GAR1731s or originals? gar1731's of course! The main reason for the IC option is a cost affordable and easy way for folks to test. I never imagined it would sound so good!! We were all shocked yesterday! Btw, 3 red dots is not too much. It will many times be just perfect.

I think sometimes people forget that IC opamps were designed to be better versions of the old discrete opamps.
Lower distortion, higher drive, faster slewing, lower noise, lower quiescent power, etc..
And people are still surprised when ICs sound as good or better!

i have lots of experience with the lme49710-20's, they are very good, i'm going to be listening to ADA4898's soon here, they will also be usable with an adapter card for the adapter card 8) in J's new comp. The big diff between IC's and discrete soundwise to my ears is the "heft"(for lack of a better term) that discretes impart, it's something i really dig in the right place. I cant wait to play with this compressor, it already has me believing it's going to be the most versatile comp available, just like it's older brother, the VP28 8) I'm totally excited for the listening party at slackkey that i won't be attending lol
you guys better report in real time lol 8)

So this afternoon I was at Kevin Kadish's place with the FC526 four pack. He tried the various opamp versions out on a previously tracked female vocal (not Meghan Trainor!). He really liked what the all gar1731 did to smooth out this girls voice. He thought it would be great to tame a slightly "pointy" electric guitar track.
Our fearless leader Johnkenn was suppose to join me but he got caught up baling hay (writing).

Yeah - I was bummed - but we ended up finishing a good one and getting the beginning of a track down. I honestly thought I might like the 1731's and the IC's...for some reason it seems like the faster compressor should be cleaner. I don't know why I think that, but it was just kind've my first inclination. jsteiger - has anyone run acoustic stuff through it? I'm looking forward to trying it with the hipass engaged. I'm gonna bring my new D28! (and let Randge play it)

That and some reso will be great at Randy's!!

I also have some other pickers and singers who engineer and produce coming by as well. There won't be a shortage of players, especially with Cowboy there as well.

Jeff, even if a compressor's way back on my to do list, what you and guys like Bryce at Warm Audio are doing is important. By making a great tool affordable, many of us don't feel so shortchanged when it comes to creating our own productions. So, you're helping lots of musicians get closer to a goal that often feels unreachable, and it's a really good thing. Thanks.
Share the same sentiment.
Thank you Jeff.

R I play in the minors, you guys play in the majors. But hey, we all love baseball!! I know three cords and a G run. Somehow I seem to fit em into every song.
