If anyone is in the market for new monitors, check out the Amphion Pro line, their One or Two series. Definitely not trying to start a hype thread, but these are some seriously great monitors. I auditioned the One15 and One18, as well as their Amphion100W amp. Ended up with the 18's and amp. Translation is incredible. I've not had a monitor that translated as well (I've had ATC's, Spiral Grooves, and Questeds). They ended up measuring down in the mid to upper 30's in my room. They go incredibly low, especially for their size. Natural, open, detailed, phase coherent, etc. All the buzzwords hold up true with these. They're worth an audition if you're in the market. I've been following other users reviews, and it seems they're really competing (and holding up well) with the likes of Barefoots and ATC's. Most are switching to the Amphions from ProAcs, Focals, PSI's, etc. Anssi says they have a pretty good track record so far. I think 100% of those who auditioned purchased them. I'm sure that won't last, but it's something to consider. I don't think any speaker will be right for everyone, but these are underpriced for what they deliver. Anssi is just about the greatest guy to deal with. Totally genuine and passionate about what he does. Some guys make you feel a little slimey after dealing with them, but he's legit. Anssi and Amphion will be at NAMM. There's a TapeOp review coming out as well. I think War from ZenPro is now distributing these. I got mine directly from Anssi (Finland). Free shipping and a 30 day evaluation period. www.amphion.fi/en/create/

Any idea how the One18 compares with the Argon 3? ...specs are quite close with the Argon having better freq. response and sensitivity.

I just couldn't not notice the big Amphion hype at the purple site, so I talked to my very good finnish/swedish friend Markus (aka Gainreduction at GS) about these, and it turned out Anssi is an old friend of his. So we contacted Anssi and he'll be visting Stockholm this month and bring a pair of One18s. I'll report!
edit: Just invited Anssi here. I get the feeling he could be super busy, but hopefully he'll have some time for us anyway :-)

I guess it's probably quite a trek to be bringing two sets of speakers though.

There has been massive hype regarding Amphion over at GS; the main thread verges on being worshipful. However, there seems to be truth in the praise, perhaps a whole lot of it. There is certainly a chorus of positive reviews coming from a number of new owners, including people I respect. Thanks indie, for starting this thread.
My long term plans include detailed room re-alignment/treatment, and upgrading my mains. So my interest level is high.

Seems like the one series are bright lacking bass but the two 18's are the ones. Ill stick with my focal solo 6be's, I REALLY like the truth in the dynamics with these...

And total landed price in usd ? The prices should be accurate on the site. I paid $3k shipped for the One18's. The 15's are $2k, I believe. Seems like the one series are bright lacking bass but the two 18's are the ones. Ill stick with my focal solo 6be's, I REALLY like the truth in the dynamics with these... I don't find the One18's bright or lacking bass at all. Monitors are a personal thing, I get that. But I'm telling you guys, for me, they're neither bright nor bass light. Flat, natural. Those are the words to use. Also depends on your room size. You're not going to want to stick the Two18's in a small room. Even the One18's need some space. If you're in a small room, the One15's are really special. I demo'd those as well.

Hi thx,
Do you guys not pay taxes and duties ?
My cdn price would climb roughly 25%.
My room is 10x20x 7.5, I was thinking the 15's would work ?
Isn't the amp $1300 usd ?
Glad you are pkeased.

Yes, hype… you get suspicious… But imo there are different types of hypes. The Shadow Hills MC also had a massive GS hype, but more of a build up, and then when it was released it kind of died. Then look at the Bricasti or Retro Instruments hype which, just like Amphion, comes from current users, and they are still praised. Quite a different thing.
I also think that the 30 day return policy is remarkable. Shows confidence that they've got a great product.
Then finally, being a scandinavian neighbor I have to admire finnish engineering and their mentality. Hard to explain. You all know Genelec. Good stuff. Nokia was on the top for a long time. When they nail it, they REALLY nail it!
I already got reply from Anssi, and he'll probably turn up here!

Good customer service
I can vouch for that part. I emailed and had a nice straightforward conversation with him. He was definitely clear about gathering info about my room and use b4 making a recommendation.
They are still setting up distribution here in canada so i described some of the major players and I told hom i had pics of studio economik's monitoring control room in montreal and would he like to see them.
I was pleased when he said yes meaning he is genuinely interested iin the environment his monitors may be demonstrated in.
I decided not to try now cus i sm paying off some debt but certainly impressed with genuine concerned customer service .

I think the best thing for you to do is just email Anssi with any questions instead of speculations and assumptions. He's an honest dude, one of the good guys. And I have a hard time believing he's using anything but top shelf components in his monitors. He's just not that kind of guy. Just my opinion, of course.

Hi there, wanted to let you know I will have more perspective on this line soon. We added it to our brands at ZenPro, and I placed an enormous order with them today for every single model they offer for studio use, as well as their amps.
I promise to report back my findings, we are very excited to be the first USA stocking dealer for Amphion.

While using drivers is one thing, getting them tuned in a box with a proper crossover isn't child's play.
Take the inset tweeter for instance. Moving the tweeter back lines the voice coils up and helps fix some timing issues, but it changes the propagation delay requirements for the crossover. It makes it more simple, but it's not as simple as just taking parts out of the circuit. A lot of time and testing is required. Some of it is scientific, some of it is subjective opinion.
I think the prices are a tad high for unpowered speakers, but not so much that I'd think they aren't worth paying good money for. For the prices I'd rather see them as powered monitors, or come in a package with the amp for those prices.
Honestly I'd love to give a pair of the ONE15 a try. I love my JBL monitor system, but I'm finding more and more that it isn't working on everything and it might be time to switch out again.

I would love to give them a listen, but I'm not one of those who jumps on the Flavor of the month bandwagon. I have noticed after a ton of monitor Demos that quite often " New" sounds "better" in the short term and just different in the long run. I am sure these are excellent speakers. Seas makes some excellent drivers but there are a ton of good drivers these days. I have said it before , In terms of the real thing all speakers suck, it's all about finding a pair that suck less for you. And you don't listen to monitors you listen through monitors.

I'm not saying they're bad, but I imagine that we'll hear nothing but positive.
