JK and Randy, I don't think anybody here see's your opertunities in music city as an ego thing, I look at it the same way I tried to present my opertunities in my Gearpimp days. Sharing what I got to experience and learned with others was a window to a place that few get to experience and the fact that those that get to enter that door actually realize how lucky they are and share. The fact is anybody can get into Blackbird Studios the only barrier is the cost! There was a time not to long ago there were many great studios now we have but a few.

That place is flipping cool, I was very lucky and had a personal tour of the entire facility around summer NAM. That was my favorite space, so rock and roll. That API is nuts!!
For all the love the Bricasti M7 gets, it's interesting that I don't see one in the effects rack. I also find it interesting that they still have those two Yamaha SPX 80's, which people often dismiss as being 80's sounding and passe.

I've seen all that gear before. Looks no different than any 1990's studio. I'm mostly interested in their business side. How busy is it? Booked everyday, 24-7? What are the rates? What is the likelyhood of a sale or ? Are the owners happy with the rates and bookings?

When I talked to John at one of Martina's gigs he told me they were slammed all day everyday. They've got an assload of national exposure from Pensado's place and the school. It's the place to go right now, nationally.

I got one over them, I have an M7.
Hey man. Yeah, I think it's constantly booked, but you still have to wonder whether they're making money. I'm not sure this is about money though it's a love affair.

Jim many in the know of the buisness of live have told me that John is probably wealthier after the sale of MD systems to Clair Borthers. Both sides think they were the winners in that deal Mcbride made a ton of cash and Clair got a major foothold on the Large Scale Country market, in fact the MD purchase is said to have Made the Showco deal possible and the demise of DB Audio and Clair's picking up the scraps of what was left.

They have 8 studios in the complex, Swurveman. Any specialty items are located in a least one of the studios or the rental area and can be brought in Johnny on the spot for whatever mission the engineer/producer is on. They also have an incredible guitar/drum collection and most of that stuff is available at negotiated prices as well. Everything from prewar Martins to holy grail electrics, all properly set up, intonated and ready to go..

What? Sell gear to buy different gear? Crazy talk.
Oh, my. Haven't experienced this since level of lust my early 20s. That may be the most beautiful console I've ever seen, and I've seen some great ones.
