I got the Parts Express speakers yesterday. I had about 1/2 hour to listen to them. They are smaller than NS-10's. They have a decent low end for their size. The AMT ribbon tweeters are very smooth and extended. They were a bit damped on transients compared to what I'm used to here. They use a bipolar electrolytic cap with a 3 ohm power resistor for the crossover. The poly woofer runs full range, it seems to work ok as it rolls off rather steeply after 2k hz. I soldered a Wonder Infinicap (.01uf at 600V) across the electrolytic caps and that fixed the transient damping. They sound pretty good for their size and cost. Good to hear Jim. I went and picked up a pair of these to go along with my girlfriends new turntable setup she's getting for Christmas after your initial post. People seem to be pretty pleased with them. What kind of amp are you using?

Got an email from JRR that the XLN Addictive Drums Fairfax bundle is on sale this weekend... Once added to your cart you get both for $79.20! Where is the sale, directly at XLN Audio? Seems like a very good deal.

What kind of amp are you using? I had some time so I set up my Ross Martin dual bare beast DAC with ADA4898-2 opamps into a custom home preamp into a modified Adcom GFA535 power amp. I used Kimber AGSS pure silver audio cables. The better the playback material, the more revealing these little speakers are. Depth and imaging are quite good. So far I'm impressed.

Microphone parts is giving away a free capsule with the Linear 87 kit (includes a samar transformer, PCB, components).... so basically you can buy a GXL3000 donor body for $92 from amazon, then $269 for the kit-- total $361 for what I'm sure is a top notch mic (based on my experience with their other products): microphone-parts.com/mod-kits/cad-gxl3000-mods/Pretty tempted on this one.

I ran into that you can buy the "all in" complete T-Racks bundle for $499. IK runs truly amazing priced bundles around the holidays. I mean--that's just an insanely good price if you're someone in need of a dongle free vintage gear bundle to add to your DAW. As far as I can tell, it's literally everything--from their reverbs and the new tape delay to all compressors and all the console EQs....

Just got an email from TB audio.. So we’re supposed to wait until this weekend to have a sale, right? Well, forget that! I’m already thinking about turkey and pie so let’s do it now. We’ve been getting wonderful feedback so far on our Model 23N pre and we want to give you a chance to grab up one (or a dozen) at a great price! From now until next Monday, use the coupon code APPLEPIE to receive a $50 discount on each Model 23N you buy. To use the coupon, just go to your cart and type it in into the coupon spot. Alto currently has the Fink Audio CS1 for $1800. Zen Pro has it at $2400. If Alto does any type of Black Friday coupon, it could be an even more smoking deal.

As a matter of fact, they have black friday deals on a lot of their stuff, not just the headphones. FWIW, the headphones are MUCH better than their price tag would lead you to believe… but, ATH-M50x's they're not. Kinda' similar but definitely boxier sounding and less smooth. Good for tracking and avoiding bleed, though. Also, Boz digital is having a black friday sale and they're launching a new plug - it's a Compex / Vocal Stressor bundle called +10dB: www.bozdigitallabs.com/product/10db-bundle/
