Evidently telling people that I have a similar UAFX pedal to the one they just released and it totally bricked (with no support out of warranty) is a violation of policy. Interesting. Drew of course chiming in with his classic snide remarks and sarcastic tone is right in line with policy though. Actually, that does kind of make sense given the overall quality of discourse over there. My problem with Drew is he has never understood that while UA writes his check, there is no check without the customer. At the very least in private you have to fight for the customer. Check and... Mate!

That's Drew for you.

If I could figure out how to attach a picture on my phone I would. I t is relevant to this thread. No way it should have ever left the factory. No way whoever packed it couldnāt have known it should never have been shipped. Was a bit of a pita to get it replaced, but that was the retailer.
Cheers, Geoff

Not sure what you're referring to here. I started a revenge thread on purple site titled something like "UAFX... good sound but quality control is terrible."

No. I ordered a UA pedal about a year ago, and it arrived with one of the bits you stomp on not connected to the rest of the pedal. Completely broken off. Didnāt even lift it out of the box, which was pristine. So just my little bit of UA quality control or lack thereof. Cheers, Geoff

Couldnt look at UA since the "Bock" treatment . So there is no urge now to even peak at whatever products they have. Been gone from UA so long now there is no longer any temptation.
So who wants my old account?

Yeah, from a profit perspective, these pedals have to be a gravy train with biscuit wheels.

Cheers, Geoff Not UA, but a similar story. I was operations mgr at the local Pella Window distributor back in the mid 80's to mid 90's. During that time the factory (Pella Corporation) had a lead time of 4 weeks on window delivery to the distributorship...even just replenishing inventory. Took a while to get, but the product was always impeccable in craftsmanship and packaging. We rarely had an issue. Around 1994 or so the CEO decided the factory needed to shorten lead times to compete. The major change that happened to those on the production line was their job performance measurement was shifted from quality being #1, to speed being #1. Subsequently, the workers could no longer afford to take time to fix issues before product went out. So, we suddenly saw issue after issue, some of which we had to fix at our own expense to satisfy the delivery time expectations of our customers, and some we had to fight or eat because it couldn't get fixed. There's one example that stays vivid in my memory. The factory would ship windows in quantities of 9, shrink wrapped as a unit on a pallet. One day I got a call from my guys on the dock who were unloading the truck from the factory. There, still on the truck, was a pallet of double-hung windows where it was clear someone at the factory had driven the tynes of a fork truck through the shrink wrap and the lower sash glass of all 9 windows. But hey, it got shipped on time. (And of course the factory claimed we did it. Thank goodness for my then state-of-the-art Polaroid camera!) Today I think there are just a lot more people who really don't care about the customer.

I think the problem is everyone hires one of about 5 major consulting firms to maximize profits. UA seams to really wants to be a prosumer company and leave the demands of the pros who built their reputation. They really need to ask their consultants if they were the guys who convinced Avid to buy M-Audio, because that turned out just swell.
