Evidently telling people that I have a similar UAFX pedal to the one they just released and it totally bricked (with no support out of warranty) is a violation of policy. Interesting. Drew of course chiming in with his classic snide remarks and sarcastic tone is right in line with policy though.
Actually, that does kind of make sense given the overall quality of discourse over there.

There's some weird stuff going on over there... I've seen a few thready straight up disappear when people complained too much about something, and the mods refuse to respond to my questions about it happening. Not going to pass any judgements yet, but stuff like this is concerning and frustrating.

I'm just gonna go out on a limb and say that certain brands pay for preferential treatment.

Usually I’m ejected from Warm Audio threads because they advertise so much.

GS is far from a legitimate site: once you realize that, you read everything with a grain of salt or just don’t bother going there anymore.

The fanbois over there will beat you to death with your own shoes...

I'm just gonna go out on a limb and say that certain brands pay for preferential treatment. They probably don’t “pay extra”, they simply threaten to pull all their adds. It’s the problem with ad supported media. Few would have the guts to go tell them to go F@&k themselves. Now go start a thread or revive a thread here on the subject and everyone participate so we can drive google search results on the subject, because both UA and GS are not smart enough to realize it may work there but it cost more to buy JK off😁

I don't see a lot of the experienced people I liked to read posts from on there much anymore. All these paid posters make it tough to trust much anyway. But I don't really go by recommendations much anymore. If someone points out objective flaws, that's what I really take into account. Forums like GS and Head-Fi are in the business of getting people to "chase the dragon" of some notion of perfect sound by spending thousands every year on new products. The truth is, you don't need all these new products if you understand fundamentals and have some basic things that function properly. As a listener, you can get a lot of quality out of a tiny Sansa clip because of how well it measures. Head-Fi will have you buying all sorts of amps, dacs, etc trying to find a combination where one cancels out the flaws of the other aka "synergy". The whole "sounds like hardware" thing is kinda misnomer. I've been doing tests to see what I can come up with using whatever plugin versions I have vs the hardware counterparts and the results are really interesting. Some things are easier to achieve with plugins. VSM-4 is a big leap in quality over the VSM-3 and stacks up pretty well against the VSM-2. I still need the whole lot of the Fusion plugins, so I'm just using the stereo imager and nothing else. Seeing if I can swap in other stuff for Violet, the HFC, and the Transformer. The green Shadow Hills still has a lot of that sound signature even if it's not as exciting as the hardware.
These companies should be working with the right people to make the products function correctly in the first place instead of paying people to lie for them and getting people booted from threads. Maybe they think if they keep selling malfunctioning plugins that users will keep buying more plugins to compensate for the problems introduced by the broken stuff. Just as a lot of people end up doing things to try and compensate for truncation noise caused by not dithering. It's a big game to keep people in the dark on how stuff works so that they will believe the answer is to always buy more stuff.

While GS is a great archive of older posts, yes most of the experienced pro’s have been run off by the circle jerk of BS. Nothing like some snot nose influencer telling you how that you should be using some plugin instead of that hardware you used on that #1 album. You get so big it all becomes a BS factory.

Drew of course chiming in with his classic snide remarks and sarcastic tone is right in line with policy though. Actually, that does kind of make sense given the overall quality of discourse over there. My problem with Drew is he has never understood that while UA writes his check, there is no check without the customer. At the very least in private you have to fight for the customer.

Whoever is sh!t posting from the UA account is a genuinely terrible person; a smug, crass corporatist. I can not imagine 'the business' knows how their rep is acting. I mostly use the purple site to stay abreast of new launches, read olde historical gear descriptions and preach to the choir about Coil. It's getting quite tiresome though.

IF UA was really focused on the customer, I would not be looking at tons of plugins in my DAW everytime I want to see my authorized plugin list. Yes, there are other apps and workarounds, but UA does not make this easy because they would rather you see a whole panaply of possible purchases than make your life easier and clutter free related to plugins you already purchased.
UA appears to be totally corporate and lacks the customer care that so many others in pro audio do exhibit because many others actually do care about the person's experience with their product at least as much as their desire to make money. There is a joy in making music that ends up being great art, and there are manufacturers that also delight in making a product that is truly great. I can give many examples, but I am afraid I will leave out someone.
