Here is some interesting porn from the repairs of quite awesome ribbons I was doing. Re-ribboned motor of Melodium 42B--a wonderful French classic ribbon: View AttachmentHere is Telefunken Ela M 25 after complete renovation. This is the first ribbon microphone in production. Originally designed by Siemens, re-branded under Telefunken and Klangfilm. Very heavy (hefty 10 pounds), with impeccable craftsmanship--just look at all those bolts and hardware--those all were made by hand--time when CNC, or just automatic machinery ware still some 30 years away. Still sounds wonderful by all modern standards, with a nice and healthy output: View AttachmentView AttachmentView AttachmentView AttachmentView AttachmentThe DR took “ mic porn” literally 😁

Beyer M201, great off axis rejection as a hyper cardioid, never used it on anything but snare, and never by itself as it comes off a little thin, very good for articulation though, if anyone has another "use" suggestion i should try... i'm all ears View AttachmentView AttachmentMy M201 is almost always on HiHat. I don't like zippy hats, I like more chunk in the tone. Mandolin is also wonderful with an M201. OH not bad either. And sometimes guitar solos. The more compact sound works nicely to sit up front and sound focused.

At the urging of the dear departed and super cool friend that I miss often, kidvibes, I asked the good Dr Fouxman to do up a pair of Apex 205's after i tried my best to diy them myself, he turned them into absolute monsters, ribboned them like they should be, and added custom diffusors, they sound just incredible with high freq extension that is so smooth, exactly like Dennis told me they would end up sounding, I can't use them without saluting the sky to good ole D View AttachmentView AttachmentView AttachmentView AttachmentFirst (before reading), I saw the picture and thought--wait a second, this is mine, LOL..
Thanks for the warm words and glad you like the mics! Likewise I miss Kidvibes... sad.
Is it my imagination, or just an optical illusion, but the ribbon doesn't look straight. Can you check it, please?
Best, M

Hi Mark, I think i see what you're seeing in the pic at the bottom? I took it apart and upon very close inspection it is absolutely flawless, it is sitting between the magnets perfectly and still sounds great, so thanx again👍🏻
