Hey, I hope this is a good idea, I thought it would be too cool to have a thread dedicated to sharing pictures and "use" stories of our microphones, i know that even when I see a mic i already own in another engineers environment it gets me all geeked up and giddy, I can't imagine what Emrr, Knobtwiddler and others can show us here? All mics welcome (Just try to keep the photo's to reasonable byte size to keep JK in the black😤😂)I'll go first 3 Beyer M160's, I use battery powered phantom boxes when i use the fetheads, i took the phantom out of all of my tube pre's and i can also use the fets to boost when on my cinecamera, the wind screens are for when i mount them on my camera as well, love these little guys for almost anything.... next! Well I can't get to my mic locker right now because a bicyclist in Amsterdam ran me down and broke my pelvis a couple of weeks ago and I am still in a wheelchair but here's a few pics of some of my mics I had on my computer.
I don't have pics of any of my Gefell stuff, additional AKG mics, different make clone mics or any of my dynamic mics. I own a lot of mics

I particularly like the white color on your flea 251, did you paint that yourself? What do you find your 251 to work best on? I imagine it must be stellar considering the capsule is probably a tim campbell😂

I think of 251s as primarly vocal mics but the arexcellent also ondrum overheads and acoustic instruments.

That sounds like it's going to be a long slog. What a fascinating collection of shapes. I really like that fairy godmother looking magic wand Neumann one. And that long police baton / lightsaber Sennheiser looks pretty sweet too. Sure would be fun to croon through those on a lazy afternoon day :-)

The Neumann is one of the most rare mics in the world. An MM2 made for their anechoic chambers. It is a long body, large badge U47 with an aluminum diaphragm omni capsule. This is #50, only 90 were ever made. The Sennheiser is a shotgun mic famous for use on film sountracks.

Thanx to Tim for posting, i sure hope other guys do the same.... Here's my pair of U47 clones, blueline capsules and vitamin Q caps in the audio path, PSU's in amo boxes, they have rca gold tip 408's, silent as can be and sound glorious to me, got that electric midrange, one of them is the JK build from a decade+ ago, I Rolexed the tele badges but put (fake as fuk)"FAF" serial #'s on them to laugh it off, they are the MKU47 diy's with some further modifications, i found a couple different trix that make the old school holographic thing come to life to my ears, some underrated components in strategic places, and yes they are a definite fire hazard🧨

Here's the Krazy Kommie K47-ish 219. On vocals, this Stock Oktava's best use IMHO... Is on medium to heavy Compressed vocals. As it has a major dip in the Sibilance realm. Chris Attachments:

Maybe you can convert it with a M7 bayonet or something? I saw it in person, looks awesome. Not same trafo though as a U47? And wasn't it ac701 tube?

If it was an AC701 tube then it was the much more common MM3 many more of which were made. I have a U47 head with an M7 capsule that fits this mic. This MM2 has the very early larger transformer and capacitors, VF14M tube. The preamp is exactly a large badge early U47 with a much quieter power supply.

Ah ok, sorry! Very cool microphone non the less. Probably sounds boring but if you can get a bayonet adapter, then it will probably be a very nice microphone to record instruments and vocals.

Love this! Good idea Tony. Like Tim I’m disabled at the moment, possibly for the rest of my life. I’m in the hospital at the right now with a fractured spine. That’s only half of my problem, in a medical procedure about a year ago doctors made a mistake, and a stent came loose and was running around my bloodstream , cutting my internal organs.
I now have all the organs in my abdomen protruding about 6 inches outside my body trying to burst through, and they probably can’t fix it , so I will be disabled for life now.
I pray that I can get back to something functional, where I can stay home and do some recording and mixing. Right now I couldn’t make myself a cup of coffee.
Seeing some of these wonderful posts has brightened my day and made me just a little more hopeful , so thanks for thinking of this Tony. It’s good to see some fun included in all our efforts to enjoy our music work and for sharing of our experiences.
