UA put me to shame, responded in a half day and reset me demo.
Nice, ampex 102 was always my fav ua plug, just tried it out on my new song, pretty immediately purchased at the sale price of $39, excellent value.

Btw, although the mastering linear preset downloads are still on ua website, the uadx ampex gui doesn’t show the old gui. There was a little microphone image you would use to manually select and load the linear presets, so although there is one preset included with uadx ampex, you may not be able to access the others.
I put in a support request to confirm this, if not, would be another difference with the uad2 version.

Fucking finally. Glad I can use this one again.
And the delay was good but if this compromise was required to get the latency down and add auto gain, then I’m good. But I suspect it’s more UA silliness.
This company seems physically incapable of getting a 100% win. Always some BS with one aspect or another.
