Alright, they got me with this sale. I came in because I had been interested by ListenHub, but I ended up leaving with a few other plugins as well.

Used the sale to update their $99 Essential Native Bundle from Pluginboutique to the HDX version, great deal for Oxford EQ, Dynamics, Reverb and SuprEsser HDX. Are you using HDX plugins with the Carbon?

Ok, finished my big Sonnox demo spree. I am super impressed with this stuff. The things you can do to drum mics with Envolution are awesome. Anyway, I bought: Voca Drum Gate Dynamics Envolution TransMod DeBuzzer DeClicker DeNoiser

When does the sale end? I'm trialing the Drum Gate and it's amazing.

Listened to a couple of demo vids and was convinced enough to pick them up with the deep discounts. I haven’t had any good Fix Messed Up Noisy Tracks plugs since some Waves stuff got WUP’d. I’m impressed enough with all of this Sonnox stuff that I trust these will be good tools.

It didn’t sound like something I was super interested in compared to MetricAB, and also lots of people report it being buggy.

When does the sale end? I'm trialing the Drum Gate and it's amazing. Check the site but I think 6/19. Agreed on Drum Gate. I wasn’t in the market and it doesn’t have a sidechain input (which is super dumb) but it sounds so good, as far as how natural the portion of the sound that is allowed through the gate sounds, that I wanted it at this price.

Wait, what? That sounds almost negligent. Oh well, I hope they update it some day. I was wishing the Black Salt Audio thingie did the same job as the Drum Gate, but it has a lot of artifacts for naturalistic recordings. Drum Gate is magical.

I'm probably going to end up getting Dynamics and TransMod. But guys, don't sleep on Inflator. I know there are tons of more sophisticated saturation plugs these days, but sometimes Inflator just freaking nails it, and you can move on. And it's like $35 right now. I never got the love for Inflator. It's just a waveshaper that IMO doesn't sound special and aliases. I think it is by far the worst plugin from Sonnox
The reverb is worse. I think I haven't heard such fake sounding reverb in a long time.

On the music I work on it is the opposite of "and aliases". I'm not sure what a "waveshaper" is but my experience testing Inflator was that by the time I didn't want any more of it, it was still a long way away from anything other just too much of a good thing. I don't think I heard any aliasing or anything that sounded like artifical/digital distortion. Pushing it too far just sounded... too far. Maybe I don't know what aliasing sounds like, but whatever Inflator does when you push it too far just sounds like what anything that sounds good does when you push it too far. I wouldn't call it aliasing. Has "aliasing" now just become a fallback for "you fucked it up?"

Maybe instead of "you fucked it up" I should say "I fucked it up." Which I do all the time.

There is a Reaper Copy of Inflator that has built in 8x Oversampling, that one is much better.

Wow Voca is also really cool. Did my EQ AB thing with Oxford EQ vs FabFilter. Oxford EQ fared better than TDR Nova, but I still preferred FabFilter. Which is good, because I don't know if I could convince myself to work on that little cramped Oxford EQ GUI. But I'm super impressed with Voca. On vocals, but also on lots of other stuff. Amazing on drum rooms/kit mics. So I'm buying Dynamics, TransMod, and Voca for sure. Continuing the demo-thon to see if I want other stuff. Not an Oxford plugin, but if you got time any day, try Fabfilter against MDWEQ. I would like to hear your opinion. It was the only digital eq that made forget the better workflow on ProQ. MDWEQ-5 or MDWEQ-6? I ask because UAD has MDWEQ-5 on sale, plus you could get it further discounted in a bundle. MDWEQ-6 is newer at $200.

The UAD MDWEQ-5 crashes Logic when hitting return after typing numbers. Not sure if it ever was fixed.

Checking this out. I was really only interested in Inflator, but I have so many "manglers" that it's hard to buy even at such a low price.

That is still the iLok System - just without the iLok, but the intrusive software is still there

Yes, but at least you don’t need to buy the stupid USB dongle or maintain an internet connection to use the plugins.

MDWEQ-5 or MDWEQ-6? I ask because UAD has MDWEQ-5 on sale, plus you could get it further discounted in a bundle. MDWEQ-6 is newer at $200. try the native version honestly. There are still unfixed bugs that will never be fixed in the uad but might be fixed in native. You cannot automate mdweq without the most zipper noise I’ve ever heard in a “good” digital eq. This is crappy live desk turn the knobs too fast stuff. You cannot enable the pass filters while audio is playing without audible pops and clicks. The graphics bug are still there. The anti-alias filter is still audible at 44.1 and 48 kHz, much more audible than the the newer Softube Weiss plugs and TDR Slick EQs. I switched to those from the MDW and the Weiss just got much lower cpu use and even does stuff now like mute the processing when no audio is present. Softube updates their plugs all the time and MDW rarely does. Dan
